I’ve just received word at work that the furloughs are cancelled for the time being.

True, but there are still going to be cuts in USCIS workforce, which will result into delays :( So I kinda feel like the result is the same (or similar) to if the furlough had gone through.

https://www.uscis.gov/news/news-releases/uscis-averts-furlough-of-nearly-70-of-workforce reads:

“However, averting this furlough comes at a severe operational cost that will increase backlogs and wait times across the board, with no guarantee we can avoid future furloughs. A return to normal operating procedures requires congressional intervention to sustain the agency through fiscal year 2021.” as someone said, the USCIS fiscal year 2021 begins on 1st October 2020

The additional cost savings come through the descoping of federal contracts that assist USCIS adjudicators in processing and preparing case files as well as a myriad of other support activities. Anticipated operational impacts include increased wait times for pending case inquiries with the USCIS Contact Center, longer case processing times, and increased adjudication time for aliens adjusting status or naturalizing."

"Life is a journey." At this moment, it's taking me to the USA to the woman I love.

We had a last minute Interview today, found out yesterday. It went really well, the officer just ran through our form and asked how we met and a brief history of our relationship. After that he advised that he’d approve us and to look out for a status change. Just checked and it now says ‘New Card is Being produced’.

Hopefully people are scheduled soon and good luck when it comes!

Hi! I’m so glad your interview went well. What steps did you take to get a quick interview?

I was consular processing pre-covid and got stuck here in March while visiting, so not so quick all in all. After filing to adjust I got a job offer so applied for an expedite for both ead and aos

Today we were told by our lawyer that the medical exam is only valid for 60 days after it's signed by the doctor and expires after 60 days if it is not submitted to USCIS. I'm pretty sure that this only applies to medical exams that are done prior to filing AOS. That's what it says on USCIS website too. But I just want to make sure because the lawyer thinks we have to redo the medical exam. We filed AOS in April 2019 and my husband did his medical exam in September 2019. Based on USCIS website since it was done after AOS was filed, it should be valid for 2 years. Can others share their experiences? has all of you submitted your medical exams within 60 days of having it done? thank you!

So I contacted USCIS today and asked. I was told that as long as the medical exam is signed after you file AOS, it is valid for two year, no matter when you submit the medical exam to USCIS. Seems like our lawyer was wrong!

Fingers crossed DC has somehow figured out how to move faster! Would love to get my interview earlier than middle/late next year!

Did you expedite or anything? You are 4 months after me and I haven't heard anything yet and when you look at others you filed 6 months after them and they have yet to be scheduled. Got to love this process lol
