The update seen there was in the email sent. It's not the same as what's on USCIS's web site. Did they send you an email alert? Only there it mentions that

L1-B & L2 to AOS (EB3 skilled)

Northern Virginia (DC Office)

22nd November 2019: NOA1 received

18th December 2019: Biometrics completed

23rd December 2019: Transferred to NBC

28th February 2020: Ready for interview

3rd March 2020: i-797C stating interview scheduled for April 7th

<--- Interviews cancelled due to Covid --->

20th October 2020 - i-797C stating permanent residence approved (Welcome to the United States of America)

31st October 2020 - Both green cards in hand!

Btw, got 2 emails as well (one each for wife and I) - There is added information there. Any ideas what it means or does it come with all cancellations?

Your Case Status: Decision

On March 31, 2020, we cancelled your interview for your Form I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR ADJUST STATUS, Receipt Number XXXXX, and mailed you a cancellation notice. We will notify you by mail if the appointment is rescheduled, a decision is made, or if we need something from you. Please follow any instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your notice by April 30, 2020, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

During this step the formal decision (approved/denied) is written and the decision notice is mailed and/or emailed to the applicant/petitioner. You can use our current processing time to gauge when you can expect to receive a final decision."

From reading the second part of your email (which was not there in mine), I have a feeling that they may make a decision on your case without an interview and just issue you the green card directly. I have heard that, some years ago, the interview was not mandatory for  AOS, and they made decisions based on the documentation they had on file for some categories. That makes me think maybe that is what they are doing in your case (to reduce the backlog of interviews that they have to do once they start doing interviews). This is just an assumption (and a hope) since your are adjusting from a different kind of visa (I don’t know much about that) than mine.  I guess you just have to see if your status is changing back to ‘ready to be scheduled for an interview’ (like mine did). If not, then you are probably lucky and will have no interview 😁.

I can only hope! But we'll see what happens. As this was only a day or two ago I'm waiting for the notification letter to see what it says

We got the exact same message in the email! the letter we got was just a cancellation notice and there was no more information there. It only says that they will notify us of any further action is taken on our case or if interview is rescheduled. Later our case status changed to "ready to be scheduled for an interview". I have heard that some people are getting approved without interview but since we haven't sent the medical, I don't think it will happen for us. But I think if the decide to approve a case without an interview they will ask for the medicals and other required documents to be mailed.

Thanks all. I'll certainly post what happens. For now just waiting for the letter and I'm assuming the interview will be rescheduled.

Hey guys, how is everyone doing?

i just got a status update for for I 485. It changed from “ interview ready to be scheduled” after it was cancelleD to “ a new card is being produced” today.
anyone got the same update? Does that mean they are issuing the GC without interview?!

my I 130 is still at “case was received”

Lucky for you! I have been hearing the same. Mine is still showing as "Interview Cancelled And Notice Ordered" - nothing else has changed. Unfortunately I'm EB3 which isn't current so I'm somehow unlikely to skip straight to green card :(

that's awesome! It probably means that they waived your interview. Congrats! had you already submitted your medical?

Our status changed yesterday from "ready to be scheduled for an interview" to "name was updated"! We never requested a name update so I called this morning and talked to someone who said it was probably a glitch in their system! Not sure! I also asked if we can send them the medicals but she said that we should only send them if we get a request for it. Otherwise we have to wait for the interview to be rescheduled.

Yes i had submiited my medical along. Also just got another update to my I-130 that”  case was approved “ so it looks like it is real! They are waiving the interviews and issuing GC! Oh my God so happy! I wish the same for you guys as well!

i filed my case on 14 June 2019

concurrent filing of I 485 and I 130

They may directly ask for medical to be sent and evaluate your case after that then . But it is still exciting to know if there is a chance of interview being waived!

So we've been back in the "Waiting for Interview to be Scheduled" phase.

That's awesome news that they waived the interview!  Unfortunately we didn't submit our medical but we have it...I wonder if it's worth getting in touch with USCIS and seeing if we can send it in directly to the field site.  The problem is the Field Offices seem to RARELY, if EVER, get in touch with folks.

EDIT: Just saw mgh84 comments..yeah, better to wait....but I wonder if they'll waive or "increase" the medical exam timelines.  My wife's exam will reach a year old in JUNE 2020 so it would have to be updated for an interview.

They might actually have to waive some interviews to work on the backlog...this is going to dramatically increase ALL the timelines.

I called them today and asked if we can send our medical and they said no unless you receive a request for it! So I guess they might send us a request if they want to waive the interview but apparently for now they’re only waiving interviews for those who already sent their medicals
