Hi everyone! I wanted to make a thread for any Washington DC (Fairfax) filers out there. My status has been 'ready to be scheduled' since April 8th. I know processing times for our office are now 10 - 21.5 months so I'm probably going to be waiting for a while.. Curious how long people at our LFO have waited on average between their status changing from ready to be scheduled to interview scheduled?

Ps. I know there's a Baltimore / DC thread already but most posters on there are for the Baltimore field office.

Hoping we get some good news soon! I have a friend whose status changed around the same time as yours and they just had their interview yesterday but they also filed in September so the 8.5 month estimate was accurate for them..

Ok good to know. I just hope they don't schedule it in August because I'm planning on being home in Canada for the whole month to work and to prepare for our wedding celebration on the 25th...if I get my damn EAD/AP in time that is! Would be ironic if I had to reschedule the interview 😕

Hi everyone!

My received date is 04/15 (adjusting from F1, graduated in May).

Ready to schedule interview since 06/07.

I will be receiving a formal job offer in the next couple of weeks and am anxious thinking that it may not work out because I don't have my EAD yet and the expedite route seems to be hit or miss. No words to describe the feeling.

04/15/19: Received date

05/15/19: Biometrics done

06/07/19: Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview

03/19/20: Interview cancelled due to Covid

09/04/2020: Interview date

10/22/2020: I-130 approval

10/30/2020: I-485 approval

Hope you both get good news on the EAD / AP soon!! And yes expedite, is definitely hit or miss.. I submitted one a little over 45 days ago and I still don't have any news. I was told it can take up to 60 days for them to make a decision, which seems kinda ridiculous given the need for an expedite request in the first place. Fingers crossed for all of us and hoping us DC filers start seeing some interviews soon!

My Green Card was just approved. Finally, after 2 years and 2 months (F2A).

My interview was ready to be scheduled on June 1st, 2018 and was scheduled on October 10th, 2018. I received the letter about a week or 10 later and my interview was on November 21st, 2018 I believe.

When I had the interview the officer did say that their office seems to be a little faster than others but this could have changed by now.

Congratulations!! Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I'm just curious - did they give you a reason for why the GC took a few months to be approved after your interview or is that normal for F2A applicants (I'm not that familiar with the category)?

Thank you!

Yes it was absolutely clear to me why I had to wait. When I had my interview in November 2018 my PD was not current yet in the Final Action Chart fort F2A. You will not have the problem because your category is always current.

I also had to wait a couple of months because they had to transfer my i-130 to the local USCIS office to be approved (yours is approved simultaneously with the i-485). So that took a couple of months to arrive there. Then they transferred my documents to NBC because my date wasn't current and I thought it would take another couple of months but that went a little faster I assume. I became current in May but thought I had to wait a couple more months for the transfers etc.

I think for USC spouses the whole process takes between 9 - 12 months. So hang in there. :) I find it makes the wait easier when you are prepared to wait a little longer. Maybe you'll be processed faster than expected. I'll cross my fingers for you.

Thank you and ohh that makes sense!! Glad it went faster than you expected, that's always a nice surprise haha :) I know that in the Baltimore field office it's fairly common for GCs to not be issued until a few weeks or even months after the interview even for USC spouses so I wondered if that was the case here as well. Happy everything worked out for you!

Any news on your EAD? I saw that ITMFA got it, congratulations!!!

It is my understanding that expedites are processed in the local offices (in our case, Fairfax), right?

I am going to request the expedite by phone and then contact my congresswoman's office in DC. Have you had luck working with her?

Hey! Expedites are actually processed at the NBC. Not sure if you're in DC or VA but I'm in VA so I haven't worked with the DC congresswoman. My VA senator/representative have both submitted expedites on my behalf but so far I haven't heard anything from USCIS. I'm going to resubmit my evidence this week.

So no answer to your expedite request in 2 months, wow, I hope you hear back soon when you resubmit it. Good luck!!! Please keep us updated.

For some reason I thought that expedites were processed locally, thanks for clarifying that.

Hey! can't wait to start hearing about some interview dates for us Feb / March filers. We've been ready to be scheduled since early April 2019 and filed in March 2019. Wishing us both good luck!! It would be quite the holiday gift if we got a notification soon
