Kind of a stretch since you're in Lawrence, but is your spouse's lease almost up soon to where you could move to the Missouri side of KC? Missouri allows temporary driving permits. They are valid for 60 days at a time and can be renewed as many times as needed. We emailed the DMV directly to get this information as none of it was face up on MODor's website.

Wow! That's interesting.  We currently own the house we live in so we would have to sell it and buy one on the Missouri side. The lady in Lawrence said if I could get a stamp in my passport extending the expiry date they would give me a one year permit.  Don't know whether this is possible though

Selling and buying a house just for a drivers licence is probably not worth it. I don't think you'd be able to get an extension stamp either.

Emailing them would probably be your best last hope at this point. Might as well exhaust all options. If all else fails, I'm sure you could find a KU student that is looking to make a few extra bucks this summer if you need to run a few errands.

Thanks for your help.  Will definitely get on it.

Only if the clerks at the DMV recognize the endorsed visa as a temporary I551 as not every IV entrant gets their physical GCs within 90 days.

I'm confused. The OP is NIV (K1).

They would not have an I551 stamp.

They would return to the DMV with their EAD or GC (whichever comes first).

I have a date on my Visa by which to exit if I did not get married.  I don't know what a 1551 stamp is
