yea but also I don't see the point of bringing the dimishing of the white race to this argument either... it's just to show how 'right' white people are and how immigrants are a threat to whiteness..

Peejay's post about the diminishing of the "white" "race" was in response to Fischkoepfin's claim that the purpose of the immigration quotas is to keep the county white.

I want to ask you all this . how many people in america really would do those jobs the illegals tend to do? I know I would not be cleaning offices and cutting lawns. what happen if we did not have people doing these things?

The unemployment rate among youth in urban areas in our country is in the double digits. Close to 50, in certain demographics. The legal labor supply absolutely does exist.

And in college, I did take a gig cleaning dorm rooms in preparation for students moving back in. That position was closed to illegal immigrants and the wages were pretty good for a 19 year old kid. That's an example of a "menial" job that did not have artifically depressed wages due to illegal immigrants.

ohhhh i see..

shon let me ask you this, are you too good to do those jobs?

yeah i am too good to do those jobs!! you Dayum right!

so there you have it .. you can go clean the toilets if you want to..

what is the ideal solution?

its a catch 22. dayum if you do.. dayum if you dont.

Then why bother? It is a waste of time and money.

Here's my solution:

1) Legalize the illegals - give them a week, 30 days or whatever time is

necessary to come forward and register. Anyone who decides not to

register after that point will be barred for life from receiving any kind of

immigration benefit.

"Legalize" doesn't mean "give them green cards" -- simply register them

and later evaluate each case individually to decide whether they qualify

for permanent residence, following standard USCIS procedures - criminal

and background checks, delays and everything else.

2) Before the cutoff date: encourage, not penalize, the employers (by means

of a tax break or subsidy) to legalize their illegal workers, if any.

After the cutoff date: impose severe penalties (fines and/or jailtime) for

employing illegals.

3) Shut off the border. Completely. Build an Israel-style electrified fence

with a minefield if need be. Send a strong message to Mexico that illegal

workers are no longer welcome.

Costs:

$5,000-10,000 per illegal in government subsidies to companies

Benefits:

tax revenues from 12-20 million new taxpayers

It's not easy, but it is simple.

# 3

you said shut off the border completely. does that mean we all cant be reunited with our family members.

or is the border gonna open when our love ones reach POE. how will that work? btw, will your plan include scraping the Visa lottery program?

A common tactic of the left. :(

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Scott,

In all fairness, peejay was the one who first made this a color thing. He's the one who first brought up the question about different races and white people.

Do you have any idea how much that would cost? The manpower required? It would take resources which beggar belief - you'd need a fleet just to guard the Rio Grande effectively. Let's call it 10,000 men - for openers.

It's going to be a pseudo-military operation, so . . . what's the US's current divisional wedge? 1 to 5, at best? 50,000 military personnel. Ancillary civilian support . . . another 1:4 ratio, shall we say? 200,000 people.

Rather an expensive solution! Your country is simply too big for that kind of plan to work. It didn't work in China - which is actually smaller than the USA.

Also, it is interesting that the Israeli wall is mentioned; that has been noted down as being illegal according to international treaties by the UN.

And a minefield? Please tell me that was a poor attempt at humour - have you seen what mines do to people? Sweet Jesus - I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. And you'd have that as a risk for kids playing in the desert?

Anyway - that aside, returning to the original post . . .

Why are people beating up on Bush? :) As far as I can tell, Bush has never said "There will be an amnesty!" nor does he say so in the original article posted. Ultimately, Bush said that something had to be done to balance legality with the fact America is built on immigrants.

Most illegals with jobs will qualify for Bush's guest worker visa. Most of them will then be eligible to apply for citizenship; Bush said they could if they "got in line".

End result: Most illegals in the US today end up with some sort of legal status with a path to citizenship. Sounds like an amnesty to me. The fact that the path to citizenship may involve a short period of time in Mexico ("waiting lin line") doesn't change that at all. They still go from "illegal immigrant" to "US citizen", courtesy of a US govt program tailored specifically for them.

That's an amnesty.

I read that they would have to pay taxes and fines - that's hardly "an amnesty". Amnesty rather does imply that they can get away without being punished; a fine is a punishment.

They still go from "illegal immigrant" to "US citizen", courtesy of a US govt program tailored specifically for them.

Yes, there will be a programme tailored to allow people to become citizens of your fine country . . . there already IS such a programme.

What Bush is suggesting is a means by which people can be legally made part of the system; so they pay taxes, and don't have to work under the radar, and don't have to be taken advantage of.

That isn't an amnesty - not in my book. I suppose it depends on your defintion - but where I come from an amnesty means "no penalty".

The problem is this - you cannot deport 11 million people, the logistics are impossible. You cannot secure the border - it's too big. Whether or not the economy needs these people is irrelevant - they are there. You've got a choice; either try to chuck them all back and fail miserably, or reduce the burden by turning some of them into legal residents with the option of citizenship.

Have you ever considerd that many of them won't want citizenship of the USA? That they would be happier being Mexican citizens with a legal right to work?

Exactly. Doesn't matter that it's called whatever else. What matters is what it effectively is. I agree that it amounts to nothing less than an amnesty. Today, illegals are ineligible to adjust status or to obtain a visa (due to the re-entry ban for previous illegal entry and illegal presence they'd trigger when leaving to get one) if they tried. If Bush's plan is enacted, they will be able to do either or both. Their previous illegal acts would be pardoned.

Nonsense. If Israel, a tiny nation of 5 million, can afford their 400-mile wall, somehow I think we can

find the money to build a 2000-mile fence along the entire length of the border.

Also, it is interesting that the Israeli wall is mentioned; that has been noted down as being illegal according to international treaties by the UN.

Israel's wall is only "illegal" inasmuch as it's built on Palestinian land in some places. There would be

absolutely nothing illegal about building a wall to separate the US from Mexico.

And a minefield? Please tell me that was a poor attempt at humour - have you seen what mines do to people? Sweet Jesus - I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. And you'd have that as a risk for kids playing in the desert?

Yes, it was an obvious exaggeration (even Israel doesn't have minefields), but you got the idea --

and it would be, in fact, a powerful deterrent.

and not only in this thread.. he posts a lot of facts and figures of how americans (white people) are having less population than 'colored' people and how immigration (legal and illegal) is gonna end up whiteness.. added to his constant bashing of Mexicans (probably all latinos, but as many Americanos, they like calling them brown people Mexicans..)

and yes Arijit, I got kinda 'attacked' by a Kinist in my blog.. telling me the sins of miscenegation and how we aliens were the Antichrist in White CHristian America.. so.. I kinda know their lines and arguments.. lol

Personally, I couldn't care less how much pigment a person has in their skin. Come here legally, or don't come at all.
