what is the ideal solution?

its a catch 22. dayum if you do.. dayum if you dont.

Then why bother? It is a waste of time and money.

Here's my solution:

1) Legalize the illegals - give them a week, 30 days or whatever time is

necessary to come forward and register. Anyone who decides not to

register after that point will be barred for life from receiving any kind of

immigration benefit.

"Legalize" doesn't mean "give them green cards" -- simply register them

and later evaluate each case individually to decide whether they qualify

for permanent residence, following standard USCIS procedures - criminal

and background checks, delays and everything else.

2) Before the cutoff date: encourage, not penalize, the employers (by means

of a tax break or subsidy) to legalize their illegal workers, if any.

After the cutoff date: impose severe penalties (fines and/or jailtime) for

employing illegals.

3) Shut off the border. Completely. Build an Israel-style electrified fence

with a minefield if need be. Send a strong message to Mexico that illegal

workers are no longer welcome.

Costs:

$5,000-10,000 per illegal in government subsidies to companies

Benefits:

tax revenues from 12-20 million new taxpayers

It's not easy, but it is simple.

I want to ask you all this . how many people in america really would do those jobs the illegals tend to do? I know I would not be cleaning offices and cutting lawns. what happen if we did not have people doing these things?

The unemployment rate among youth in urban areas in our country is in the double digits. Close to 50, in certain demographics. The legal labor supply absolutely does exist.

And in college, I did take a gig cleaning dorm rooms in preparation for students moving back in. That position was closed to illegal immigrants and the wages were pretty good for a 19 year old kid. That's an example of a "menial" job that did not have artifically depressed wages due to illegal immigrants.

ohhhh i see..

shon let me ask you this, are you too good to do those jobs?

So the answer to the world's problems is to reduce the population of the USA and EU to what...50%, 25%, 10% white? Maybe we should force Japan (a rich industrialized democracy) to take in huge numbers of non-Asian races. Do you think they would go for it? These theories are preposterous.

Is your name LL Cool Jay?

Peejay, please drop this subject - it's pointless and it's going nowehere. You are letting your bigotry interfere with your rational thought. I didn't know you were of those individuals who seem to be under the spell of the WASP mystique and parrot ccontention that America owes her greatness to Anglo-Saxon culture ... People from Poland move to better off EU countries, work there and send the money home.
The EU allows that, though. It's legal. World of difference.

Exactly.

There were many Poles and other Eastern Europeans that came to work illegally in Western Europe before. And they got kicked and their employers punished. No questions asked.

Paolo from Chicago,

Maybe I am in the wrong web site on how to immigrate to the EU?? The subject of discussion is America, not Western Europe. Big difference.

By the way, would you care to provide any evidence to support all your statements on this thread?

I don't understand anything about basketball. But if you like basket ball, by the way, it seems like the NJ Nets are doing pretty good this year (3rd in the Atlantic Conference).

I went to see a game in the Meadowlands last year, Nets vs Miami (the Nets lost) Shaquille is a really big guy. Nice too, he signed autographs for all the kids. Isn't he from NJ?

oh, really? just fly him to Mexico(if you can). then, have him cross the desert and evade whatever border patrol officers may be around. once he gets passes all that, somehow try to go to school, forget about financial aid. a decent job you say? hmmm no papers, no chance of a decent job. therefore, no decnt medical care. *sigh* ppl really make me wonder around here.

and to mi amigo peejay, again??? dude you really have an issue with the brownification of America don't ya?

It's a tough call for the Government... Illegal inmigrants DID break the law, BUT remember that if there wasn't any US employers that allow them to work illegally this thing wouldn't have blown out of proportion...

After all these years of massive migration and an estimated of 11 million illegal inmigrants it's not a matter to deport them or send them to jail, which will only end with a huge US deficit and overcrowded prisons... these people, are now part of America's economic system.. some of them may tribute and some of them may not... however, most of them have suffered a great deal to get to America searching for a brighter future.

I live in Peru, I see poverty everytime I look out my window and I can see how these people may want a better future for themselves and their families... Do you know that each year 50 million dollars are sent to latin american countries??? Most of the people that actually live and work in the US are just trying to survive... and trying to ensure that their families overseas will survive too.

I think that America DO need something to stop this massive illegal migration, however the ones that already went through the ordeal of leaving their families and busting their backs to ensure their futures should deserve a chance to legalize their status... I'm sure the State will seek a way for them to pay their fines (like monthly low payments for instance)... A bad call from the government may result in 11 million unhappy people... are they willing to take this chance?

Its hard to understand how law can be bent in some cases when we are here in stand by trying to build our future the right way... but there is always 2 sides of a story and I do believe that these people deserve a chance. You wouldn't believe their stories...

wow. long topic.. interesting debate.. Mawilson, the reward idea is not bad lol, $10k for reporting illegals.. the only thing is, how many of these reports would be accurate? let's not forget that for many people, brown people=Mexicans=Illegals.. so, it'd be a pain in the ####### for all the legal hispanos too lol, that their neighbors called the police because 'there are some mexicans down the road, they must be illegal'..

true.. the Mexican Government doesn't give a shite about the illegal immigration.. and as I said it before, its time to cut the BS and start making a real economical plan and stop dreaming about an eternal dollar income from the 'remesas' from illegal families, it's true that Mexico would have a problem, but hey, we have to start somewhere, to get money from ourselves, as many people have said here, Mexico is not poor, doesn't lack resources, doesn't lack labor.. we just lack huevos.. lol..

and to finish this.. peejay, again, you are full of ######

a) that document didn't encourage anybody to cross the border, but rather gave them points to get water, the main highways, and how long would it take to cross the desert.. That's very different from encouraging.. I think that yes, what they are doing is illegal, but just because they are committing a crime, should we just leave them to death.. oh wait.. US has GITMO.. so I guess they don't care lol..

B ).. that reduction of 50% to 10% white.. are you a White Knight? a KKK?? a WASP glorifier? a Kinist? lol.. I bet u're reading Rushdoony, or those dudes who claim the sin of miscegenation.. as someone said here.. if the anglo-saxon population declines.. who gives a ######? are they the glorious race that will keep America afloat? without whitey, are we doomed? lol.. that's a bunch of bullshit.. go back to your plantation boss man, and keep the white race proud, and aware of the sins and problems of brownification..
