And the Senate just castrated the bill that would have held all companies/religious houses liable.

Hmmm.... well.. so much for makin the people lookin to exploit the illegal workers pay up for doing so.

The Senate Judiciary Committee adopted an amendment by Sen. ####### Durbin, D-Ill., that would protect church and charitable groups, as well as individuals, from criminal prosecution for providing food, shelter, medical care and counseling to undocumented immigrants.

"Charitable organizations, like individuals, should be able to provide humanitarian assistance to immigrants without fearing prosecution," Durbin said.

Don't see nothin here about companies.

Heh... read to fast. My Bad. Yet, if that "charitable organization" just also happens to "employ" said person? Without actually reading the bill now though.. it be kinda difficult to see what true intention is. But then.. I am sure there are lawyers out there that will stretch even that.

Public Health care system....less burden - Do you really think that Joe Farmer is going to start offering health insurance? Is Mr. Janitor going to get benefits all of a sudden? Who is paying for these benefits?

The consumer pays for everything. Always. Don't look now but you are already paying for them. With your taxes and through your insurance premiums. Or who do you think pays for the emergency room visits and for the public health system that all those w/o insurance and w/o funds fall back on?

There's a difference between an American falling back on the public support system and an employer effectively bringing in a alien that he dumps on that same system all the while making huge profits off of that scheme. That's part of the cost of illegal employment. And I, for one, don't care to pay for it.

Besides, as I quoted earlier, 75% or better of the workforce in the "traditional" illegal fields are actually legal employees. That means that 75% or better of the businesses can work and produce competitively within the law. The other 25% are either incompetent or greedy or a combination of the two. If they're not able to compete legally, then they ought to close up shop and leave the field to those that can.

Legal labor means more expensive meat my patoot!

Right - we're already paying for all of this stuff......I still don't see the benefit. Any program to remove all illegals is going to cost a lot of money. On top of that, we're freeing up all kinds of minimum wage jobs. What is the big benefit?

Legal labor in your case = fair wages, which in my book = higher prices.....because you and I both know employers will pass those costs along to the consumer.

I agree about these businesses.......that should be the place to start, but this will cost us money. I don't buy into the notion that we're freeing up billions of dollars by getting rid of illegals.

If we had the hospital bills that around 12million people incur scratched, that would be a pretty good start to save some serious dineros, no?

As for the cost. More than 75% of the meat you buy today is produced and processed with a legal workforce. I'm not sure where they sell the 25% or so of meat produced by illegals cheaper than the other meat. I am rather convinced that some just manage to shave bigger profits off the process. The lower wage "savings" don't benefit you or me.

Basically, give them 30 days to come out of the shadows and

identify themselves; if they don't -- find and deport EVERY single one of them. No

exceptions, humanitarian reasons or family reunions.

How will you find them? This is a big country and it's not hard to hide.

Simple -- report an illegal, get $10,000. How long do you think they'll last?

give me the phone and have my check made out right now dayum it.

baby needs some new shoes.. where the money at?

No I am not. I am just simply trying to get people to see the bigger picture. Sorry you have a problem with that. I think there is a legitamate problem also. I was just trying to get people to see that it isn't just Mexicans.

Mexicans, Shmexicans. Why are you trying to make it into a racial issue? We're talking

about ALL illegals, of all nationalities and countries of origin. Illegal Canadians are just as

illegal as Mexicans.

12 million people no longer receiving health care.....does that mean we need less doctors, nurses, staff, workers at the drug companies, workers at the medical supply companies.......that's a big hit to the system.

I agree that it is likely the wage savings do not benefit the consumer......but I don't know too many filthy rich farmers either.

Unfortunatly, it's a self perpetuating problem.

100% american man comes home from his $7 an hour job *I'm going by that number cause I know that's what my husband makes, which actually puts him <125% poverty line*.

He pays insurance, car, rent/home, utilities. Looks in his wallet. Not a lot in there, BUT he still needs to eat, sooo, down to the local food shop.

He looks at vegies, cause you need vegies to stay healthy.

On the shelf is 1 head of lettuce for $5. It comes from a farm that employs LEGAL immigrant and/or local guys, pays for all of their medicals and whatelse they need to be legal.

Next to it is another head of lettuce for $2.50. It comes from a farm that employs illegals.

Which do you think that goold ol' 1005 american boy that needs to feed himself, stay healthy, and provide to society is going to pick? The one that will allow him to buy other goods for him to stay healthy/sane.

So he buys the $2.50 one. He wants a new shirt. he could buy the $20 shirt made in America by immigrants, or the $5 special made by immigrants. The $5 one.

Happans in Australia too. There's a BIG push to 'buy Australian', because we don't suffer too badly from illeals working here *most gets outsourced or imported in*, but people will ALWAYS, ALWAYS look at the price first. Most do not care about where it came from, so long as it's cheap.

Unfortunatly, for americans, it's going to take a lot of research to find out which farms employ legals, whereas in Australia, you just have to look on the back of the label (though in some cases, that's a lie too)

The Beginning

September 29th, 1999 - 'hooked' up with Dave after chatting with him for about a year online.

July 23rd, 2005 - Dave comes over for the wedding on July 27th at the beach :)

Sometime in December, he sends off I-130 to Texas and promptly leaves me in the dark like a mushroom x.X...

The Saga Continues *dumdeduuummm*

August - phone NVC. intriguing :\ Phoned again, ah hah! the truth... no record of us >< losers... Go and visit Dave for 3 months...

End of January, we sent the petition back in again. 2 weeks later, we actually get a number in our hot little hands.

April 5th - NOA2 approved!

April sometime, received and sent back Choice of Agent

May 18th - Received IV Bill

May 28th - Sent IV Bill MO back

I want to ask you all this . how many people in america really would do those jobs the illegals tend to do? I know I would not be cleaning offices and cutting lawns. what happen if we did not have people doing these things?

The unemployment rate among youth in urban areas in our country is in the double digits. Close to 50, in certain demographics. The legal labor supply absolutely does exist.

And in college, I did take a gig cleaning dorm rooms in preparation for students moving back in. That position was closed to illegal immigrants and the wages were pretty good for a 19 year old kid. That's an example of a "menial" job that did not have artifically depressed wages due to illegal immigrants.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

Yeah, I'm glad they put that "Processed by illegal Immigrant" stamp on the label for us all to know
