POE - Miami - K1 Visa

Hello!

We tried to find some recent information for the Miami International Airport as a Point of Entry for a K1 visa.  We were able to get a recent experience from some people in our subforum and we searched for some 2018 reviews.  But, we wanted to see if we could get a thread happening for recent 2019 experiences overall.  We would be traveling together from Argentina towards Florida, which has a connection in Miami.

Are there any particular documents we need to have handy to have a packet prepared with all of that?

What type of questions do they ask in the "room"?

Can my fiance and I be together in the "interview"?

How intense are the questions?

Is there any chance to get a refusal or some kind?  If so, what would the reasons be?  What would happen?

Thanks!

Typically no questions.   It's just paperwork.   I went with mine.

Packet and passport is all that is required

YMMV

Is the packet the one they give you when you pick up the visa with the xrays as well?

Thanks for creating this thread.  I'm interested in seeing the responses.

My fiancée's English isn't that great, and I'm debating between Atlanta (closer to my home) or Miami as our POE.   Either way, I'll be with her, and it's good to know that MIA allows the beneficiary to attend the interview.

It's not an interview per se.  You sit and wait while they complete the paperwork.

YMMV

Relax, thousands and thousands new immigrants (and non-immigrants) are passing through US Ports of Entry every day, many of them do not speak a word of English. The CBP is well trained to handle this. It is what they do every day literally. Your loved ones will be fine.

You are very welcome!  Here is some additional information we've gathered from other threads and discussions:

You CAN ask for Spanish, it wouldn't count against her or you.  Obviously, it will depend how readily available they have someone that speaks Spanish.  Chances are Miami has more than Atlanta but Atlanta is also common enough that she might be able to find Spanish there as well.

Atlanta is viewed as being more organized than Miami, but (as a frequent traveler) I believe immigration within airports is just pure luck as far as the lines taking time to be processed and such.  If Atlanta is closer, and you are traveling together, it might be better to just do it in Atlanta.  But, definitely a personal choice and what you would feel comfortable with.

Right.  I guess that's why I used quotations. 🤣

"When are you getting married?" is the only question that was asked  of us.  He then went on to say you only have 90 days to marry AND file for adjustment of status

As a new immigrant we get you're overly concern and noted but like many have said and I will add to it. POE's are not a big deal. Immigration has handled millions just like you so to them this is NOP (normal operating procedure). I have an interesting experience that was very positive from a couple that traveled from Kiev to JFK. This is her experience.
