Changing US embassy after submitting paperwork

Hello everyone just wondering how i can change the US embassy I originally had on my i130 form? Do I wait for when I hear from NVC? Is it difficult ?

 

Basically my husband had to move to panama because of the political crisis that’s been going on in Nicaragua (where he’s from) he filled out some refugee paperwork but it’s not working out over in panama for him PLUS I found out afterwards that you have to be a resident there to be able to have interview. 

 

When he left the Nicaraguan embassy was closed and the website claimed Nicaraguans could go to any us embassy for visa stuff. But we’re thinking maybe things will be better in Nicaragua in a couple of months to go for interview.

He'll need to provide evidence of legal residence and address in the new country where he want to do the interview. If he doesn't have it then your best bet is to contact the US Consulate to approve it but I think they'll need strong reason for it.

Yes, only when it reaches NVC, then you can do so by contacting NVC. You may be asked to provide evidence of residing in that country.

Hi yes we’re  leaning towards Nicaragua..costa rica might be a possibility if it’s not ok in Nicaragua yet at that time. If that’s the case is applying for refuge (in CR) enough of a reason to change embassies?

Nicaragua is a whole lot safer now than what it was; there's not much for jobs but he doesn't have to worry about getting shot in the street. We are heading there this October/November to visit family...and to get our kid his Nicaraguan citizenship. You'll probably have more luck just doing it in Nicaragua anyway instead of trying to establish legal residency in CR etc. For a while CR was accepting all kinds of refugees from Nicaragua although I don't know if that has changed since things have calmed down significantly.
