Hi, everybody! I am almost done with assembling all of the forms and the supporting documents I need. I have several questions to ask before I would send them.

1. Does the cover letter go on top of all the forms? Cause the check should be the first one to be seen right? I hope someone can show a picture on how they arranged everything.

2. I did not file the Form I-131, Application for Travel Document because my husband and I do not intend to travel yet. Would that be okay?

Your response is a great help! Thank you!

Why would you not file the i131?  It's no additional fee and while you don't have current plans,  emergencies happen and priorities change

YMMV

I would put check and then cover letter.

It doesn't matter how everyone arrange everything. The first thing when an application arrives at a USCIS facility is they will take the payment (check, credit card form, money order, ... ) and put it in a separate room. Then they will take off any binders, cute folders, staplers, ... They just want the papers, unstapled. Then they will arrange your file in an order of how the adjudicators like to see it. I was told it's like a 2 part folder where everything you submit is on one side and everything the government generates about you or the beneficiary is on the other side. So no, it doesn't matter.

It's your choice, there is no downside to filing the I-131, only upside. What if there is an emergency, God forbid someone gets sick, dies, gets in a car crash, gets diagnose with cancer, ... and you have to leave the US. Without AP, the AOS is considered abandoned.

File the I-131.......it is free.....other posters who failed to file the I-131 have regretted that decision later.  It would be foolish to leave it out of the packet.

Thank you for taking time to answer my questions. I will also file the I-131 right now. It's a short form anyway. THANK YOU!
