This is good to know! I am using RapidVisa and they keep telling me that even though my 2016 tax return was $411 under the threshold and 17 and 18 were $36,000 that the embassy in Manila usually does not look at assets. I own 3 homes outright and 2 are income producing. $145,000 in liquid assets and a nice Ed Jones Roth. YET....they keep parroting for me to get a co or joint sponsor. Both of our parents are dead. I am 66 and she is 56.IT IS OUT OF THE QUESTION. I am thinking RV does this to cover their A$$,but not sure. This Hank guy on here ALWAYS says Manila does not take assets. I am leaning that they DO.

So your income is $36,000? You don't need assets. If it's just you and her, you need to have around $21,000 of income or income plus assets.

What was the ratio of income and assets for both parties? 50/50?

One used all assets .. there are a number of posting from this person on the topic.  He was the first.   I don't know the ratio for the other

I thought it was great news that the embassy had started to accept assets, especially for the K-1

Yes, I messaged that guy who used 100% assets. Was this the other person? It looks like he had some income but he also had three times the assets.

Nope that wasn't the ones I know of, they posted in the Philippines forum.  So that is another.

Using assets for shortage with income.   The I-134 doesn't address this.  But for the I-864, the instructions state 5 times the shortage.

Yes, on page 10 of that PDF, I qualify for the "However, if you are a U.S. citizen and you are sponsoring your spouse or child age 18 years of age or older, the total value of your assets must only be equal to at least three times the difference"

Well, this chapter is coming to an end. I ended up not having to use a combination of income plus assets because my income was high enough this year. I submitted 50 pages worth of income, assets, and domicile to CEAC weeks before the interview. No one reviewed it. The CO casually leafed through some of my pay stubs (my two part time jobs got it over the line), but they didn't even look at my other financial documents (bank account, stocks, etc). They approved my wife.
