Hello,

My husband and I received a notice from the NVC telling us that we are now documentarily qualified and that they will work with the embassy in Johannesburg to schedule a visa interview. We got this email over two months ago now and have still not heard anything about an interview. Does anyone have any idea of how long it takes to get an interview scheduled in South Africa for the IR1/CR1 visa?

Any information would be super helpful! Thanks so much!

My husband (South African) and I received the same email with that wording May 8th and we are still waiting. I have tried calling and submitting inquiries to NVC, no response yet. I emailed the consulate in Joburg (Johannesburgiv@state.gov), also no response yet. Its so frustrating not knowing when the interview will happen, sorry we can't be more help! Hope you guys hear something soon🤞

Hi everyone!

We heard that my South African husband was documentarily qualified on April 8th and today (July 22) we have finally heard that his interview will be on August 21st!! Such a relief to finally have a date after such a long process!!

Its seeming to me that it takes about 3.5 months from hearing you are DQ to getting an interview in joburg. Hope this information helps and that you all hear soon!

I got the same letter on June 26 for my wife and my daughter. Please let me know when you receive your appointment at us Ambassy in Cameroon Yaounde.

Yesterday (August 22) we received an email from NVC that my brother has been scheduled for his interview for the end of September. Overall, it took about two months from being documentarily qualified to getting the interview date. We are thrilled. Hope yours come soon too. Good luck.
