I'm a USA citizen who filed for my Ukranian fiance on May 8th and got an NOA1 on May 13th of 2019. I was aksed to undergo prostate biopsy last week  and it turned out positive for prostate cancer...Doctor just called me today with the shocking news. And I'm supposed to meet him on wednesday for treatment options.

Given that I will need to go thru a cancer treatment , and would want to have support of my fiance here emotionally as well as would want to start a family before my fertility goes down with cancer treatment(i'm already 47) , should I try to request an expedite? What are the chances ? Or is it better to let it go the normal flow?

God bless you and help you with your situation, good luck

Get yourself a good fertility doctor and freeze your sperm for stock piling till its needed. I had my prostrate removed and the ####### doesn't work anymore.  You may loose the urge to have sex again. Ive had two skin cancers and now have cancer at the base of my tongue.  Had my first chemo last week. Not fun! Good luck.

Try for the expidite everything to gain.

@Greenbaumbeing a medical professional I can understand a bit of what you went through & going through but I’m amazed at your heart to still find time to help others. I  wish well for you & from today on you will be in my prayers too. 🤗 & ❤️ from here

Chemo can be tolerable or awful. The worst is typically around 3 cycles in or so, although the specific drug/drugs and how they impact one's body are never really too predictable.

So true, everyone responds differently.  Prostate CA is generally treated surgically and then with radiation first, but if chemo is used it would most likely be Taxotere (Docetaxel), which is less likely to cause nausea than some drugs.  There are so many new  targeted therapies out now, with even more in the pipeline.  It may be a strange thought, but I've been in my job for 14 years, and the present is a much better time to have cancer than even 3-5 years ago!

That is excellent!  Nausea can be even harder to tolerate than pain.

It is heartbreaking to learn of your condition....I've had a very close aunt of mine who passed some years ago from cancer :(

You can request the expedite to show/prove hardship of not having a speedy review of your case.

Make sure to include the diagnosis from your doctor and any documentation proving the condition.....typing this and I am so close to tears.....please be strong in your fight to remission! 🤞

I've had cancer 3 times, gone through chemo that many times. Only times I had nausea is when I got chemo via lumbar puncture (spinal tap/ Intrathecal chemotherapy). Thankfully anti-nausea drugs these days seem to be quite effective. Each time I've actually put on a ton of weight during chemo due to all the drugs they give you to counter the chemo side effects.

Sorry to hear about your situation. The expedite is a long shot but worth a try.

You could also fly to Ukraine, marry, and try for a child. It may take just slightly longer, but that way your wife will be able to work right away and there is no ROC.

Nothing but all the best praying and blowing goodness and positive vibes and COMPLETE healing your way.
And I second that I bet you are a true treat there. God bless you @Greenbaum

Unless he does a PSA he not going to know. Yearly checkups are for standard stuff and a PSA is usually not one of them. I hope everything works out for him.

I couldn't agree more on the advances made on fighting this disease.  My deceased wife died of breast cancer some 15 years ago and what they can do now is far advanced. We have everyone in the medical community to thank for that as it hasn't been easy im sure.

Thanks for all you do.
