Hoping for good news soon

All about managing your own expectations and planning around them... If your NOA1 at Nebraska is Summer 2019 I'd expect NOA2 around Summer 2020... Focus on that and get everything ready for NVC stage.  You'll make it, stay positive!

A resident petitioning for adult family member

F2A have a waiting time of around 1 year and 6 months for approval, sometimes 2 years!! But they are supposed to be faster now, you just have to wait patiently, that process takes long time!!

Good luck!

Hey all,

We just got our NOA2 online (egov website).

I'm a US citizen filing for my wife in Brazil.

Priority Date: 6/26/19

NOA2: 12/12/19

Texas Service Center

We did not expedite/get RFE (or any written communication since our NOA1). I did change my address in October and called twice about her visiting with a pending case.

Just wanted share our experience so far and hope you find it useful. Good luck to all of us waiting for this painful process!!

For anybody, who wants to be aware of how long the next steps after approval take:

NOA2 oct 31

SENT TO NVC nov 7

NVC received nov 15

Case number assigned dec 16

Thanks for this!

I’m still confused on the “NVC received” thing. Do you get a notice for when the NVC gets your documents? I’m just asking because I want to make sure I update my tracker accordingly.

So for instance, we got our NOA2 on Dec 4th. Then on December 10th, I got another notice saying that the case was sent to the Department of State. So that December 10th thing would be the “Sent to NVC” I’m guessing.

How do you receive notice of “NVC received”?

Also, one last question, did the NVC received notice go to the petitioner or the beneficiary?

Sorry for all of the questions! My husband just moved to a new address in Canada right after our NOA2. I’m worried that some information may get sent to his old address. We called USCIS and asked how we update the info, but they kept redirecting us to the wrong form.

Anyway, thanks for the very useful timeline!

Yes, December 10 is your "Sent to NVC" date. But they might receive it a week later like it happened in my case, so you might want to call and find out when they received it, because you wont get a notice of that. The only way is to call.NVC phone number 603 334 0700

you might want to have this date because that's the date you can use to check on your case creation estimate here https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/after-petition-approved/begin-nat-visa-center.html

when you do get your case number and invoice created you'll get an email. I dont believe they send physical mail anymore, so your husband's move probably won't matter. We received an email from NVC the next day after the case was created so I didn't have to call and find that out.

Now some people say to not wait for email and just call every day, so it's up to you

31 days!

NVC received my case Nov 26

I know!  what can they possibly be doing there that it takes 31 days to assign 2 numbers to a case?!.. it's just frustrating. but at least the travel.state.gov website is accurate. So you'll probably get yours after Christmas.

I have been researching the timings of getting Documentarily Qualified after submitting all docs and that is a big mystery as some peope get DQ within a week and some are waiting since early november

Sure is a slow process 😣
