The reunion went well. He had fun driving around looking at his old houses and schools. The trip up and back sucked the big one, but the time there went very well.

First flight ended in NC with the captain making an announcement that he was declaring a full emergency, maybe he thought he might have a blown tyre, maybe not, but if we should see firetrucks all around us on the runway nothing to worry about.  We had done, and so sat there for a good length of time completely surrounded by firetrucks, bits of shredded tyre littering the vicinity.  In due course, we were removed from the plane parked in the middle of nowhere by bus and driven miles to the end of the terminal, because of course no gate. So no jetway either, and Himself had quite a time getting down those ladder steps.  Nearly an hour delay there.
Hustled off to the other end of the airport to meet the connecting flight,  which as it happens was also delayed by two and a half hours. Left late, arrived late, with a long drive ahead of us. Arrived in reunion town late to check-in, although the lovely B&B people waited for us.

Cue immediate and pretty severe hypotensive crisis which took me until well past midnight to reverse.

There followed pretty much three days of staggering from event to event, they had a pretty ambitious program to get through. Imagine a large group of bald and grey-haired people peering at nametags, with no names only the Grad photo to go by, and trying to work out who the heck they were talking to.  I lost count of the people coming up to me and saying I looked familiar. I don't. Chickie is the one you want. I ought to have had THAT on a nametag.

The four horsemen of the apocalypse  as they were known were all present. Up to no good most of the time. They contemplated going down to the local car dealership and boosting another car in memory of past events but decided cruising up and down Main street looking for trouble might just be a bit past them these days.

Himself was awarded, perhaps a little unfairly, the most changed.  He looks nothing like he did then.  Of course, there were quite a number of embarrassed people when he explained why, and some of the old girlfriends were very tearful about it. "You used to be soooo handsome though" didn't really serve to make him feel any better. He felt bad for them, but I felt bad for him.  He soldiered on regardless, as you do.

Both flights delayed on the way back, due to ground stop in and out of NC on account of the weather, both flights averaging 5 screaming infants and at least one seat kicker.  Arrived back in NWA after 0100.  I am so tired today.

Got the dog out of hock at the Vets. She had her teeth cleaned while there, and they had to pull five, so she's on a soft diet for the next while. She's was happy to see us, and at the same time not speaking to us.  The bed we sent with her is soaking wet with urine and moldy, and she had apparently not been able to eat the large crunchy treats they gave her pre-surgery, so she buried them in the bed. They were actually growing fungus. I'm going to go in there tomorrow and have a short, sharp conversation.

The second day we were away, my sister sent me a text to say my mother had died. Not unexpectedly I must say.  We've been waiting for god for years.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

We obviously need to off-urinate you more, si Eh ma'am.

Although not an equal comparison, we had to do the same with our back, sigh ma'am.

Embarrassing and mortifying both fizzicly and in terms of holding others up, why do they do this to us man.

The babies can't help it, little & scared man.

The kick-seaters (and their parents) need retroactive birth control, zero tolerance man.

Give them hell, si Eh ma'am.

Our power has been out a total of 1 hour over the past 5 years, despite routine hurricane force winds.  We have a generator and a proper hookup for it, but I think we've only used it once.

Minnesota 10000000000, Texas 0.

Even if it did go out, our house never gets above 75 in the summer thanks to its design and the cool nights.  It gets so cold in the commercial buildings during summer that I need to bust out a sweater.

It is more like a grand total of time, rather than a single occurrence. We have our own local power company, so that helps.

These are more storms that come out of nowhere.  I stand corrected that the winds are not usually hurricane force, which I guess is above 75 or so?

40-50 isn't that unusual.

I'm not really that upset. She's been persistently vegetative for about 11 years, non verbal, just not present at all. Before that, she was on a locked ward at the home down to her incessant wandering. I feel more now that she  is no longer trapped in any way.

It was a bit awkward, but he did have a great time anyway. We got home yesterday to 24 emails, apologizing and the like. He's fine. And as he said, they were right. He is vastly changed. I still think it did him a world of good. The group of four naughty ones, which includes  Himself, had a wonderful time burning the old nostalgia down. He was able to sit in their old booth at Lindy's diner and shoot the breeze with the other old guys. They are all old and grey, but it was plain to see that they are still the same, still in there.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Well TB, since you brought the subject up of retroactive BC. Frenchy's 23 old daughter dropped the bomb on us yesterday am, she's preggers. Not planned, not prevented either and she's a nurse. So she can't plead ignorance on how the old birds and bees work.I just don't get it. Pulling my hair out. Now we will be making an unexpected, unplanned trip to France. Get this, his parents don't even know that they are a couple. I'm not exactly sure how that's going to work with his "Amish" family.

Did I mention how insecure I am about meeting Frenchy's ex-wife who is the size of a #2 pencil?
