I'm actually trying out one of the meal delivery boxes (HelloFresh) for the first time tonight. I cook so often and get bored of planning.

You can feed chickens meat?

Duck should be pretty simple to cook if I recollect. I just rarely do it because it is so expensive to get one where we live. Like $40 or $50 for a duck.

I found it pretty costly but my son's gf gave a one of her boxes as she was going away. No left overs and I like having left overs. I just find Pinterest a good source of new. Even for me being a very picky eater I can find a lot.

Oh yes chickens are actually cannibalistic. They will eat their own, we have to make sure they don't get red spots/blood from a peck. They will keep pecking at that same spot. If they do get a slightly red spot we cover it with blue food colouring, they sell some stuff called Peck no more and that turns everything purple. The colour red is too tempting. I found half a mouse and a few dead critters that they killed. They will literally eat everything and anything. Ok minus peas they don't like peas.

Seems like everyone in this thread lives in Arkansas or has some connection there. I lived in Bentonville for 6 months back in 2010 while on project there. One guess as to who the client was.

LC loves duck. She orders it every time whenever we go to a fancypants restaurant.

Hmm, might be a little far. I'll start looking around here for someone who raises ducks.

There used to be a guy here that I bought all of my pork, chicken and eggs from that raised organic. He's not in business anymore since he got mixed up in some snake-oil pyramid scam thing and decided to call it quits. Too bad too because he had a good business with a solid customer base.

The introductory one isn't too bad, but it does cost about as much as eating at Noodles or Panera. Cheaper than a regular restaurant.  I think it might be a good option if I'm working and the Dane needs to cook.  Or just a better option in general. I had been hitting a limit of planning and then we'd just end up eating rubbish because I wasn't in the mood to cook.  I like the idea of get fresh vegetables/meat in between grocery trips. Even if I go to the store, there is no guarantee they have what I am looking for.

That's disturbing new information about chickens for me.

Crazy isn't it? I left as a teen but I didn't get disfellowshipped. It didn't stop most of the people I grew up with from shunning me anyway. My husband was born in too. His parents won't speak to him and have never met me. I hope you're friend is ok now. It's very difficult to rebuild your life after leaving.

He was lucky because his mother was already out so she eased his transition.  The worst part was that he living with his dad at the time but was kicked out if the house when he was banished. That was 17 years ago now and has seen his dad exactly 1 time and his half sister 0 times.

This is true even for us. My wife has a former neighbor from the Philippines that lives there on a farm.

I have no connection to Arkansas besides you all. 😎 It used to be that Minnesota was the hot spot of the thread, but they've all abandoned me here all alone.

The kids and my wife (who supposedly hates cats) have been worried all day about the new kitten we got. My wife put her outside yesterday because we want to make her a barn yard cat. She hasn't been seen all day so we were worried something got her. Lo and behold as soon as it got dark she came up to get food.

Now she won't stop bothering me and wants to play.

I like Half Baked Harvest recipes. I cook more of her recipes since moving here and they've always turned out really well. She comes from a big family and her recipes usually feed at least 6 people. I can highly recommend her if you're looking for some inspiration for meals.
