T-bak-ee, noun, a dead give away that a carpet bagger is tryin' na impersonate a southern person. Because everyone knows that chewin' tobacco is known as 'bacca...

t-bak-ee is not southern it's Ozarkie dialect. Which, btw, is a linguistic isolate.

She'll be fine. I'm sure we all come across people like that all the time. I see one of the local religious organizations settled a case that involved several of their religious leaders and children. There is a big Scandinavian owned corporation in our area who seems to have no problem hiring felons, including ones on the sex offender registry. Such is life. We learn to live with people we find morally repugnant.

<gasp>

Good grief Trophie....you almost sound....conservative!

That's all I'm saying. No politics!

We all know someone who married a criminal. Like Stretch, she married a criminal. A moonshiner!

And speaking of criminals, we haven't seen Darklar in ages...

Can you say which religious organization? I'm curious. i was born in to a religious cult so I'm interested in how these cases are dealt with.

I agree. We can't know what anyone else is thinking for sure. Our instinct may be to attack but there comes a time when you have to believe that you raised your child to handle dilemmas and that they will handle it.

All sects are the same in my eyes. ;) One of the rules of the thread is not delving into religion, so I didn't want to mention specifics. I'm sure a lot of similar cases have been in the news lately, so it shouldn't be hard to guess. There have been whole generations, not just here, but in various communities across the world that suffered abuse as children and they pass it on and so forth. So many Boomers were molested and so much of it was hushed up. It doesn't make it right, but it makes you start to see it from a more systemic perspective.

I'm just a moderate at heart.

If you believe this https://news.uga.edu/total-us-population-with-felony-convictions/, 8% of the US population has had a felony conviction. So, I would suspect one of us might be married to one. I don't think it is a big deal once people have served their time. Whether we a society put a greater emphasis on certain crimes over others as offending our mores doesn't dispute that once the weregild is paid, it is paid.

I remember my Dutch friend who left her Dutch husband on account of corresponding with an American prisoner.

I think the monkey scares him off.

Ok. I understand your viewpoint but I was coming from a stance of those of us that have left high control groups and are trying to construct some kind of network of recovery. Being in a group like that obviously hinders a member breaking away. Being logical doesn't work in recovery in that situation as the premise is that what the individual has experienced is abnormal, whereas from our perspective it's normality. I'm a human here that lived this. I'm not a percentage or a statistic.  I don't need someone telling me how it is. I need to be listened to.

At the casa, we napped like a dead thing for Many (2+1) hours, zzz we man.

During this time, we for some reason out-sweated every drop of bodily fluid, soaked we man.

Mrs. T-B. intended to take us to first day of large church GS on Thurs. eve, not supposed to drive we man.

However, Mini-B. too tired to go after hours at the pool, scratch that idea man.

We therefore went alone, dumb/intrepid we man.

The take, see man:

  -- 2 shirts for Mini-B.; pants for Mini-B.; book for Mini-B.; belt; tie = $Many ($2+1), deal man

We had to sit down a couple of times but survived the experience without usual symptoms, hopeful we man.
