I don't sleep all night either. I'm tempted to start going to the gym when everyone goes to bed. It's not like I'm doing anything but stare at the clock. I get my best sleep at 7 am but that makes it hard with kids.

I'm sorry about the chickens. :(

I was doing that for a while, but I think it only compounded the problem because I was more awake and hungry for a meal at an inappropriate time. I too sleep my best at around 5am-9am.

Life's too darn short to put up with that much stress, just for a so called 40 hr a week job.

Ain't that the truth.

Neighboring jurisdiction's volunteer ambulance is about to go under. Unsurprisingly, they have similar issues with poor management. One of their members wrote a super passive aggressive op ed in their local paper shaming people for not volunteering.   I wonder why no one wants to volunteer with you guys.

Thanks, it is sad they are/were only 3 months old. I just got back in from giving 35 chickens a dose in their mouth. That is on top of treating their water supply too.

That is the only reason I haven't done it yet. I don't want to be starving and wired for sound at 3 am.

That's just insane.

Now after BJs, I get swamped by 3 kids, to the 99 cents store, load up with slime stuff. In the middle of that, the bullet proof vest factory guys calls, "our friend got collared!" I'm like, FFS...

Can't catch a break this week.

I've been nursing my silkies. We lost 3 already I thought the heat was too much for them and put out a fan gave them electrolytes. Than we found blood after the 2nd one died, we have been force feeding food and water and medication to one then a 3rd was found gone this morning.

One of the girls I work with had one of her chickens die just last week. His name was Death Hawk and he had become the unofficial mascot of our work group (which does IT software investigations and none of us had ever met it). The girl whose chicken it was said he got attacked by a raccoon :(

My apartment complex has probably 30 buildings spread out over 2 blocks, and one of the kids that lives in the one next to mine ended up taking a rock and scratching up the hood of my car. You can tell its deliberate and there were a few tiny hand prints on the front fender right next to it. We talked to the landlord first, who advised us to file a police report. The police said that since we didn't have picture or video evidence they couldn't do anything immediately (but understood that we weren't going to deliberately film a 5 or 6 year old) and said to keep an eye out. Since she also is playing outside unsupervised most of the time, they told us to call them so they can put a stop to that. We've been checking my car quite often to make sure new scratches don't appear and I think she's caught on that she did something bad because she now runs into the apartment anytime she sees me. Saturday I went and talked to the tenets, playing dumb, and said "hey! since you all are out here a lot could you keep an eye on my car? someone scratched up the hood and made scribbles all over it. its gonna cost about $300 to repair so I just want to make sure I have lots of eyes on it to ensure it doesn't happen again". One of the guys seemed really motivated to help. The other just sat there drinking his beer and chain smoking not even making contact so he probably knows the kid did it. Luckily, the bodyshop I got an estimate from says that its all clear coat and it can be fixed for under $70. I'm kinda glad I exaggerated the price to the people though so they can go ahead and internally panic about that every time the kid gets close to my car.

Poor chickens. This summer heat and humidity probably isn't helping any.

We've been having rabbit problems in our garden and Frenchie is about have a breakdown. There are only 2 rabbits still alive after the fox moved in under the neighbors shed and they keep chewing holes in the plastic fencing and going in and eating the green bean and strawberry plants. I wish the local hawk would come in and make din-din out of them or the owls that live close by. Last year it was the deer and we had to put the dog's old pen up around the green beans.

Saw my first man-bun this morning on the way to work. It was pretty righteous too as the guy has more hair than I do, but that's not saying much. This is indeed a rare sighting in these parts. Local boys will be giving him disapproving looks and then rev their diesel engines on their F350's as they chug away in black fog of swirling exhaust.

The Dane has a similar feeling on man-buns, but men throughout history have had long hair. I don't see the issue. Long hair is also protective against the sun.

I'm not even going to talk about the number of pickup truck measuring sticks we have around these parts, especially the ones that cost more than a house. 🙄

Yeah I got him recogged, or, "RORed", released on own recognizance.

What happened was...

At my friend's bullet proof vest factory

Mexican and chinaman co-workers got into it. They both been working for my friends for about 8 years.

Chinaman hits Mexican with the paper core from a roll of textile.

Mexican gets a bruise to arm.
