Went from Ibarra in northern Ecu back toward Quito, travel we et al. man.

Had time before our flight to Cuenca to visit Mitad del Mundo, middle of world at equator man.

We paid $Many-and-a-half ($2x2x2x2x2 & a half) for Many adult and Many juvenile tickets, treat we man.

LONG, LONG walking, us on cane man.

 

Mrs. T-B. then insisted that we lunch there, OK but van-driver waiting man.

We were late already, and where was our lunch order man.

Either Mrs. T-B. forgot to order it for us (in restroom) or, more likely, waiter forgot us, sigh man.

We ate leftover French fries from kids' meals, filling but oh well man.

We paid for entire family, $Many ($2x2x2x2x2x2) man.

 

Mrs. T-B. then realized our lateness, hasten back to van man.

She told us to get started first ''because you move so slowly,'' accurate man.

The group still passed us and got seated before we got there, in pain man.

Wouldn't even enable us to rest on long walk, sigh man.

At Quito airport, we told check-in idiots about need for wheelchair, exhausted we man.

No wheelchair in time, no way to get back to mobbed ticket counter, no and no man.

We asked other airport personnel for help, but only our airline employees allowed man.

We saw spare wheelchair, see we man.

Mini-B. offered to try to push us, sweet we man.

We had to try to explain that even grown men would have trouble doing so, explain we man.

We asked Mrs. T-B. to push us, last option man.

Details and sharp speech intentionally not included here, uninclude we man.

We ended up limping to gate with cane & carry-on bag slung over caneside shoulder, limp we man.

Fortunately, Cousins Mini-B. came back to look for us, assistance provided man.

 

Airline had wheelchair at boarding area to take us to the plane, small consolation man.

We noted Mini-B.'s characteristic ''about to cry'' look, notice we man.

We asked him what was wrong, ask we man.

Mini-B. began crying bitterly, saying ''I don't want you to get divorced!  Stop FIGHTING like that!''

Mrs. T-B. took Mini-B. away for some treats or something.

We simultaneously got permission for them to preboard along with us, distracted we man.

They were late for this call despite our motioning them to hurry, hold up everyone man.

Fortunately, airline had wheelchair waiting for us in Cuenca, much more organized man.

In Cuenca, Mrs. T-B. had rented us all (us, her extended family) a very old casa, Many00 years old man.

Master bedroom (up long creaky stairway, of course) was actually quite nice, modern plumbing man.

Stayed 2 nights, not bad man.

Zero Internet cafes open on Sunday in Many'rd-largest city in Ecu, good grief man.

After lunch in casa, reminded Mrs. T-B. of our desire to visit large mall in town, shop we man.

She said, ''Everyone plans to leave in an hour,'' say she man.

We asked if we should stay up or take a nap, ask we man.

She said, ''Nap for an hour, but only that long,'' clarify she man.

 

We awoke promptly in an hour, honor timeframe we man.

Casa completely empty except for Mama-Mrs.-T-B., senior she man.

We managed to gather that everyone had gone to the mall, forget we man.

We managed to get phone call to Mrs. T-B., senior she call she man.

Mrs. T-B. told us where in mall to meet them, taxi we man.

 

Mall mobbed by soccer fans, Peru vs. Brazil man.

We limped around stated area Many times, no see we they man.

We then limped around part of mall, solo we man.

We then returned to stated area, find we they man.

We expressed frustration, frustrated we man.

Mrs. T-B. rolled eyes at us, dismiss we she man.

We shopped with Papa-Mrs.-T-B., some part of experience salvaged man.

 

That night, had long, intense private caucus with Mrs. T-B., caucus we with she man.

We gave her a chance to vent, emotional catharsis she man.

Mentioned that she is quite unhappy with herself, probably large part of issue man.

Treated us far, far better later that eve & all second day, hopeful improvement man.

We awoke at half-past Many a.m. with back pain & never re-fell asleep, truncated zzz we man.

Today, July Many'th (2x2x2th), whole family vanned from Cuenca to Gualaquiza, Mrs. T-B.'s hometown man.

First half of mountain roads vastly improved from our first visit, Many (2x2x2x2-2x2x2) years ago man.

Second half rife with potholes, avalanche remnants, flood mud, work yet to do man.

Mrs. T-B. concerned about our well-being amidst bumps & potholes, OK we man.

 

Arrived in Guala to stay at #2 sister's apartment building, modern man.

We noticed hair salon right across street, haircut/color needed by we man.

We asked Mrs. T-B. to accompany us to explain needs & arrange price, ask she we man.

After much make-excusing (fatigue, many business calls, rain would ruin hair), agreement occurred, occur agreement man.

Mrs. T-B. said, ''Can you leave your cane here?  People know me, & I don''t want them to think I'm with an old man,'' say she man.

Our back was OK, so we left cane at base of apartment stairs, leave we man.

 

We cracked up hair-chica with our pidgin-Spanish jokes, crack up she we man.

 

At casa, we mentioned ''old man'' incident while glaring at Mrs. T-B., apologize she man.

Back is still surprisingly tolerable, use cane regardless we man.

It had taken Mrs. T-B. less than 2 days to express that she wanted to leave early, on our flight or departure day man.

We helped her arrange a palatable return, same day different flights cost of $Many00 man.

She begged us to remind her next time that she can no longer stand long visits to Ecu, a week max man.

We told her that we planned to view this trip as an adventure, not a burden, enjoy despite all we man.

She appeared to consider this, consider she man.

 

Unsure what plans are for rest of Guala stay, at least investigate town & caucus with family man.

Need to be in Guayaquil by weekend, but supposed to rain & possibly out-warsh return road man.

Option is to drive a very long way around, or drive wrong way & hope to catch flight, option man.

However, airline is known for canceling flights, not a sure thing man.

Decisions, decisions, si man...

Geez T-B, man, sounds like our weeks are going equally well. 

 

I put in my 2 weeks notice tonight, although I am hoping to get out of working the last week.  I am over being treated like this by my boss for $3/hr and then getting contacted on my days off. Sick of a bunch of other dirty laundry type stuff that I'll be keeping to myself as well.

 

 

She kind of pushed me over the limit with demanding I come in when I wasn't scheduled to work to talk about the fact that I didn't want text messages about work issues when not working.  Really? Minnesota has criminal punishments for wage theft now. Wanna play?

Im sorry that your visit didn't go to plan and that you were in pain, some of it not necessary. I hope the rest of time therr is better.

I hope so. I've not had this issue in the past when I've worked, but it has been awhile.

Exempt vs non-exempt? Even if I wanted to pick up more shifts to make it financially slightly worth it, there have been some interesting hiring decisions recently that make that impossible. In some ways, I think there will be people who will be glad that my shifts just opened up for financial reasons. Working the till at Target would pay better than I'm getting and be less stress.
