The poison ivy thing isn't a traditional allergy, but rather a built up of sensitivity to the oils. I think it is just a whether it will happen the 3rd time you touch it or the 9000th time that varies person to person. Not that it isn't similar to allergies in the sensitivity thing.

Pro tip: if you wash with soap right away, the oils can't do their magic. It is the sitting on the skin for hours that does it.

Baby box elder trees look a ton like poison ivy. I can't tell them apart, so if it looks like it could be the devil's plant, I stay away.

You are SPOT ON....I wasn’t allergic to it until I was thirty...happily skipping along through the Ivy....until BOOM....it literally changed over a week....head to toe misery (plus some steroid shots). Now I can get it from the dogs 🙄....they touch it then lie on my feet ☹️ And Technu (I will check the spelling) works the best to remove the oil.....

Technically a typo on purpose?

I've developed a new symptom with bug bites. I'm not sure what bite me but it does look like just s simple mosquito bite. It is not itchy at all but from time to time sharp pain goes shooting down into my arm. It doesn't hurt all the time just random times but often enough.

Psychosomatic? I promise, I'm not trying to be funny. Sometimes I'll get a shooting sharp pain in different parts of my body and think, "what the heck was that?" Then the pain never returns and I figure it must be some bad flashback from my 20's. Then again, you are claiming it's recurring so maybe it's real.

Those of you living in an American town of almost any size are familiar with the town bowling alley(s). Just about any town over 500 in population will have one. Well, Santa Fe, a city of 80,000 hasn't had one in the 5 years I've lived here. They're finally building one and it should be open for business soon. I'm not a bowling nut or anything. The reason I bring it up is as evidence that Santa Fe has a well deserved reputation as an elitist little corner in SW America. Like bowling is beneath the local residents. I'm sure Steve wouldn't like it here.

Oh, and then there's all the art galleries. Just like NYC actually. Steve definitely wouldn't like it here.

My mom had been toying with making her second house there. Sounds like she'd like it, well, maybe not now that there is a bowling alley.

They've been closing up around here, but curling clubs and ice skating rinks are more ubiquitous.
