The poison ivy thing isn't a traditional allergy, but rather a built up of sensitivity to the oils. I think it is just a whether it will happen the 3rd time you touch it or the 9000th time that varies person to person. Not that it isn't similar to allergies in the sensitivity thing.

 

Pro tip: if you wash with soap right away, the oils can't do their magic. It is the sitting on the skin for hours that does it.

 

Baby box elder trees look a ton like poison ivy. I can't tell them apart, so if it looks like it could be the devil's plant, I stay away.

I've been careful to wash with soapy cold water since hot open pores. The poor Hillbilly reacts so bad to the stuff it's crazy. 

 

I have google poison ivy so much and still can't figure the stuff out. I just keep the kids away as no way do I want to find out if it's the real stuff or not.

Heck I started allergy shots and had a major reaction to them and had to stop. I don't bother taking anything for the reactions. i have Epipens and liquid Benadryl on hand always. Then I go to the doctors and get stronger allergy pills and steroids. Then I'm like all wired for sound. Med wise it seems to be only the sporin family I can't take. 

I broke out the first time when it was hot....my mom and I had gone strawberry picking....it was downhill from there....went to the doctor he gave me Benadryl.....I broke out head to toe.....went back to doctor he gave a steroid shot....everything was well. But every time I got a cold I would break out....doctor said I was allergic to being sick..... I wasn’t feeling well one day when I was 20 years old....took cold medicine and passed out (while driving) doctors ran all the tests....nothing wrong....fast forward 10 years....had the sniffles...took DayQuil....couldn’t breathe.....it took me 20 years to figure out what I was allergic to. And my allergy is a complete anomaly....but it is something to consider (that sometimes the cure is harmful also)

Scary how long they took to figure it out.

It took them 17 yrs to figure out how dangerous my allergy to cold was.

/older sister is older than me, younger sister is mother of only existing grandkids, middle bro and his wife haven't had much luck, and baby bro isn't interested, so PRG (who is younger than all of my siblings and their spouses) is likely best bet
