We are off into town tomorrow, minus Herself for once. The Big Boy steam locomotive No. 4014 is meant to be in town about 14:30. I've a friend in NZ who is a major trainspotter and insists I get him some photos. Easier if my camera hadn't been pinched on our way home from NH, I'll have to rely on the phone for what I can get.

I won't take Herself along, from the video out of LR this this is loud. She doesn't do  loud.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Abs doesnt prevent skids.  It may help prevent some sideways motion but any car after like 2000 should have ABS.

It just helps by automatically pumping the brakes for you.  You'll  feel it like a vibration against your foot.  Ive still had plenty of ABS enabled cars slide about on ice and snow when stopping.

With snow just drive slower and understand there may be ice underfoot.  So a downhill to an intersection may mean regardless of how hard you push your brakes, you will slide through.  Or an uphill means you can't go. If it snows a lot where you are, you get winter tires. They help you stop and turn and go.  Stopping can be improved by nearly half the length of the best all seasons.

I suggest winter tires for Michigan.  On steelies.  That way you're not upset when the rims (aka wheels) touch things.

This. As someone who has lived in the frozen pits of hell for the last 5 years, this is it. Also, as someone who frequently drives hundreds of miles during a single work shift....  You immediately notice a difference between the hockey pucks that all season tires become in the cold and winter tires, which have amazing grip.

This is a video that shows even the difference between warmer weather winter tires and "Nordic" winter tires from the same company (the one that I have on my car):

Wow, how cute are these guys? Those silkie chicks are amazing, I've never seen one other than in a photo.  They look so soft!

They are adorable squishy little noodles. Silkies are my favourite chicken ever. They are really soft and fluffy.

Wow so much snow tyre info-thanks for that! Interesting.

Thankfully I already have a full set of premium winter tyres ready to go on, I just need to be able to get an appointment to get them put on.

Hoping to go out for lunch with my friend Connie today, I might see if she doesn't mind taking me to the travel agents to pick up some brochures

Mimosas, well that is at least something :D  Ouch, that's a lot for a week! Yep, a lot of places are couple-y or honeymoonish, or have heaps of small children at them.  Singles won't fit the bill either, really. Sheesh, I dunno from there what would be a better idea.

Oh you need to take a cruise. I have a few GF's that go all the time by themselves and they absolutely love them.
