So I had some good and bad news come up at the same time today. 

 

I have ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS wanted to live in Singapore with my family. I have been through there a few times and enjoyed my time there. So for years now I have been constantly applying for federal jobs there because I am a federal worker and it would just be a relocation. But all after all these years (5+) of applying I finally got an interview for a job there last month. The interview was about a hour long and it was like talking with guys I work with on a daily basis. I thought it went really well myself and I got an email later saying that "We think that you would be a great fit to the team".

 

So I woke up today with a job offer for Singapore which I am ecstatic about quite frankly. The only problem with this whole scenario is that we just bought a house to settle down in. The good thing about this job is that I would be able to bring the family to come live with me, and it is only a 4 hour flight to my wife's town in the Philippines unlike a 26 hour flight now. 

Congrats! When I was working for a big IT contractor whose name starts with I and ends with M, I was constantly applying for positions in SE Asia, so I understand the attraction for you. I never got an offer. I'm happy that you did.

I wonder what happened to that girl who used to post in the Rant thread who was from Singapore. The one who lived in Seattle and they had just bought a condo out here when she decided she had enough and was moving back?

I'm not.  All 3 of our  vehicles do.  it's 91 octane up here too.  If I get enough groceries I pay 2.50/gallon for premium.    Normally just about $3 or just under tho.

We're going for a drive this weekend to the mountains.

You can't have speed up attitude the whole life. Everybody needs to slow down sometimes. It seems like you don't have any occasion to slow down and just enjoy things. Stop overworking yourself. Think about yourself
