06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Today is my birthday. Himself used very good sense and has given me a pair of proper wellies, and the winter socks to go in them. Practical gift, my favorite type.

We had one of those pop-up storms yesterday afternoon, now the internet and phone are out. I think lightening is the culprit since the equipment on the inside works, but no service. I tried resetting the router still only yellow and red blinking lights.

Wow. I've not been in a launderette for years and years. I can safely say I'll take my stuff down to the pond and beat it on a rock before I ever go there again. I took a blanket, so as to use the oversize machines, and two other loads of stuff we had to have. 23.50 thank  you very much. I'd hate to have a bunch of kids and have to go there every week.

 

I am off to Lowe's tomorrow. They have a sale on. I hope to heaven I can get a pair delivered here, and the old ones carted away before the expected date they have online of two weeks.

 

We had a storm last night, and plenty of lightning, and long rolling thunder. The weather radio went off ten times in just a few hours, and the oddest thing was the lights were going off and on so fast in here it looked like a strobe. Thanks to the dog's pain meds, she hardly lifter her head to look, and went back to snoring.

 

 

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.
