That's a shame. Have you thought of having security cameras at yours? I had them on my house back in England as I was stalked by a client. The police advised me to get one. It may deter some behavior. Not knowing who it is can prey on your mind.

Around here it wouldn't help.

That's what is known as "reckless endangerment". Hope they get a clue and get the ######s...

They weren't to sure they would find them.

Took Mrs. T-B. & Mini-B. on day-trip as promised, Saturday man.

Worked in one planned ES/GS stop each, along route man.

At ES, got heating-pad, thick warshcloth, & Pierre Cardin tie = $Many ($2+2+2), OK man.

At drive-by GS, Mrs. T-B. got 2 pants & a blouse for $Many ($2+2), no complaints man.

Above stops kept our impressive weekly GS/ES streak alive, good thing man.

Probably won't be able to hit ESs on Sun., no man.

Uncle T-B. (hospitalized since Wed.) might be discharged, who knows man.

Apartment & laundry are filthy, egad man; Mama T-B. burdened by this, worried senior she man.

We & Mrs. T-B. must go up-clean everything starting at Many a.m. Sun., might be full-day gig man.

Thank goodness that this is our "light" laundry weekend at the casa, presumably manageable man.

My grandmother refused to marry my grandfather just because she was pregnant with my mom.  She was 16 and he was 21.  She also refused to give up my mom after being sent away to a home to do so.  If she can do that in 1950, we can absolutely do it now!
They did end up getting married after the birth of my mother and stayed married until my grandmother's death.  But as my mother puts it, he finally convinced her that it was because he loved her not because he was a father.

My grandmother met my grandfather while forced working in Germany on a farm or something like that, during the WWII. She got pregnant, my grandfather acknowledged the baby (I was always sarcastic like: how gracious of him!), but he never saw the baby anyway. My granma was sent back to Poland, to give birth and after three months with the baby she had to come back to the German farm. After that she never saw the baby either. She left it with her mother and her sisters, who stayed in Poland (her mom was too old to work and her sisters were too young, so they were able to stay at home instead of being sent to forced laboring in Germany). I've always heard that the baby died during the bad goat milk or something, but last year or something (years after my grandpa and grandma both died) my aunt told me that the baby died due to neglect or something like that.

Anyway my grandparents got married in Germany when the war ended (my grandma's wedding dress was made from American parachute ;) ), they were offered jobs and home there (the Germans they worked for were quite nice people, they visited each other many times after the war, they received a lot of packages & some money during their after-war life), but my grandma missed her mom and wanted to come back home. Which is kinda undersstandable. Still a nice history :)

BTW - sorry for being AWOL for some time! Still getting settled in my new flat 🏘️ Need tsome furniture, so I might visit ikea pretty soon LOL.

Saying hello to all the new faces! 👋

And sorry to hear some of you are having a rough time. HUGS!

Your grandmother and mine have similar stories! My grandmother was also brought to Germany to work on a farm and it was the first time in her life she had enough food and had decent clothes to wear. She was also a bit upset to leave, but married my grandfather (a British soldier who was coming through) when she was 17, had a baby not long after. It wasn't a happy love story for them, unfortunately.

There was talk of another baby she had in Germany before that and I was kind of hoping to find a match with ancestry, but I don't think too many Germans use it.

I'm almost a little surprised the German authorities didn't take the baby with how many Polish children they stole.

Always so much fun decorating a new place.  I don't buy furniture at Ikea anymore because I'm at that place in my life where I have enough, but Ikea and I still have a special relationship. Plus, it is difficult to bring too much furniture or too expensive of items back from Canada because of the duties.

Feeling pretty crappy today. Last week I only less than two and a half days. First I took a day off for my husband's AOS interview. Then I took a day and a half because my grandpa died. I probably could have taken another day off, but I would have just sat at home watching Netflix and wallowing. It's not like it was unexpected, but he declined really quickly over the last three months. Before the funeral, we sneaked a 2019 penny into his shirt pocket- he made a lot of clocks (at last count two years ago, he and my grandma had 72 clocks that he made in their house) and he always put a penny in from the year he made them in it. My dad told someone and they responded that he'd use it to make his first clock in heaven. Saturday was the funeral and my husband's green card arrived; the day was bittersweet.

In other news, today, August 12th, is Middle Child Appreciation Day! My favorite holiday as I'm the second born of three daughters. Go appreciate the middle children you know!
