Hi everyone,

Hope that you all are doing well and enjoying the summer. I wanted to ask about immigration timelines for NY and interview for I-485 AOS. I’ve been reading that the wait times for NYC is really long. The last update I received was that my I-360 case was approved and they issued for work permit shortly thereafter. I originally filed my paperwork in Aug. 2017. No new updates on my case as of March 2019. Does anyone know the anticipated wait time to get the request for the GC interview then finally the GC approval? The lag time for NY seems to be particularly long. What are people’s experiences? Any thoughts and feedback would be very much appreciated. I just want to know so as my keep my expectations about the duration of the process in line. Many thanks for your time and attention. I appreciate all your valuable inputs and contributions throughout this journey.

My VAWA was approved in Oct 2018 and my attorney messed up my address change so they didnt have my new address until May this year... but after filing VAWA the old I-485 apparently takes over the attorneys address as safe address.. correct me if I am wrong. So I have not heard anything since October last year and I am in NYC

How do I find out who my congress person is that can inquire about immigration? I am in Queens, NYC

If you’re not sure, go to the USPS website, type in your address and zip code to know what district you belong to. Then, go on Google, type in your district number in Queens, NY then it should automatically show you the name and contact information for the the Congress member who is representing your district as well as a link to their website. Best of luck!

Congrats on the approval!

Sorry to hear that. I’m sure your Congress person can follow up on your behalf. I understand from other people’s experiences that wait times in NYC can last up to 8-12 months, even after approval. Hopefully though, you are near the end of your waiting period. Fingers crossed for you.🤞

You're welcome always!😊👍

Thanks @Stillwinning!!!😊. I took your advice from last week and followed up with my Congress person, they reached out to me within 24 hours and just requested that I submit some paperwork and give my consent so that they can follow up on my case. So, keep you head up @staypositive

Wow. Wait, when did you both file? Can you please give the timeline? I was prepared for a waiting period, but, it seems to go over the 8-12 months window? Did you get any updates or did you have to wait for over a year to hear news or receive a notification about your case once it’s been transferred to the local field office? I also don’t have any update on whether my  the local field office has received my case.

The options include:

- contacting your Congress person

- contacting uscis by doing an e-Request if your case falls outside of normal processing times or you did not get any notices

- scheduling an infopass appointment

- asking your attorney to follow up with USCIS
