@sandranjthank you for the response about the PO Box.

I also have a question to anybody who knows about the info I am asking.  What are the things we can benefit from having prima facie? Because I was just denied of food stamps using the prima facie.

Second question, can I divorce my abusive husband while pending VAWA approval? I just want to cut all ties with him and start fresh with my life and my kids.

Thanks in advance for the reply.

Just a few  States approve food stamps with prima facie, you need to check the Law in your State, but  if your kids are americans they are entitled to have food stamps, considering you are making bellow the  poverty line You can divorce when you want.

Some state don't have much knowledge of the Prima Facie benefits, you may ask for a hearing to appeal the denial  you are entitle or can received public benefits, the person handling your case don't know. Prima Facie you can applied for Medicaid, Food Stamp, Housing, and  FAFSA to go college....

No only the I-360 Receipt. Still waiting I filed on June 2018

So the EAD is taking longer after prima? Thanks

Thanks for your reply, but the processing time for the EAD takes 3-5 months right?

USCIS has a goal of 3 months to get the EAD. However there has been an influx of petitions and the processing time slowed. Currently it is taking people an average of 3-6 months. Your wait can be longer or shorter but it's best to plan for the longest wait. (6-8 months)

When you get approved for medical in many states they will offer back coverage- it can go back several months or more. That's why they ask you when you apply for medical if there are any bills you currently have. If anyone got approved for medical benefits and has old bills from when they were not insured they should speak to the assistance center worker to find out if the old bills are eligible to be covered or not.

Every so often I like to make a post reminding people of another terrific program. It's called "Give back a smile". It's a dental assistance program for victims of DV. There is some fine print to it about what they will help with- but if you suffered a dental injury due to abuse please check the program out. Dental is not covered under traditional medical insurance and it can be very costly. The Give Back a Smile program is basically dentists doing pro- bono work for victims who lost a tooth or suffered a cracked tooth due to domestic violence. I had an excellent experience with them and highly recommend the program.
