That so [removed],  from all the complains that we see on here in regards bad lawyer experience is there a way we can have a separate treat we we can share bad experience with lawyers and make everyone of unprofessional lawyers.  I don't know if we a legally allowed to do that but it is just a suggestion?

It's really terrible what some of us go through in the hands of these so called lawyers! They are so quick to prey on the gullibility and vulnerability of innocent petitioners! I had it hot with my attorney and made sure I stood my grounds..she's definitely not going to forget me in a hurry!☺😂😂 so about a different thread to discuss general issues..yeah I think I've seen someone mention that...but I guess if one of the admins runs into this enquiry, they should be able to direct accordingly to the right path..or anyone else who knows!

I'm not surprised at all at the shady and questionable character of your lawyer! We've read about most of their antics here and dealt with them personally as well! Obviously your lawyer wants to create a situation where he/she will charge you for filing a fresh i485! Nothing stops him/her from asking for that petition to be held in abeyance! She also knows she's the attorney on file so most of your documentation would be directed at her..if you feel uncomfortable with this kind of shadiness..do ask him or her to sign the form that says they no longer represent you..set you free to handle stuff on your own! You can ask @sandranj the attorney here for guidance! Send her a message..call for her here...she's been very helpful and you'll get valuable advice from the amazing community here! Do please demand he/she hands you your documents including thr i360 receipt! If there's a prima facie there's definitely a receipt! It's part of his/her scheme towards making you solely dependent on him/her!  Your EAD extension is C9 category! When your VAWA is approved you get C31! I think you can do the extension yourself from comments I've read here! Hang in here you'll scale through!

Thank you!
Where do I apply for extension? To Vermont or Chicago?
Cause my I485 is still pending and it is in Chicago I guess.

I fully agree we have to be able to be able to express our experience and to be able to say hey i had this and that with this lawyer and i cannot recommend him or her, or i had awesome experience with this lawyer highly recommended.

I second this!

when I was preparing to file my VAWA, I initially went to a low cost immigration attorney from Catholic Charities. But I was already on this forum by then and had enough info on how to file. Why my first psychological evaluation was delivered to her, She didn’t even bother to read it all and was insisting that it should be sent with my VAWA package ASAP. However, I sent it to @sandranj to review first and she said it is very bad because it had zero detail. My lawyer got mad and removed herself from my case because I was protesting and didn’t want her to send the evaluation plus she said I had my own opinions lol.

I then had another evaluation done and reviewed by Sandra before sending my VAWA package complete with I485.I have been renewing  my work permit since and I’ve not had any issues at all. Also, my VAWA was approved without RFE

Bottom line here is, “you’re your own best advocate”!

Familiarize yourself with the process as much as possible and if necessary, fire those incompetent money sucking lawyers!

Hmm! 😒 ok..we're blessed and fortunate to have such experiences so next time..if any..we are better equipped to dodge the bullets before the shots jets out!😕😏  and hey Strife..when exactly was your VAWA approved? Has your i485 been transferred to the local office?☺

@Stillwinning, my VAWA was approved mid April this year. I received C31 work permit and approval notice separately.

My I485 is still in transfer process from Vermont to my local office per my congressman who inquired on my behalf.

USCIS informed him that since the transfers are made in bulk, I should expect delay in the transfer process.

I see!👍 about same time as mine..cool! The transfers used to be quicker...don't know exactly what caused these delays..not minding the reasons USCIS gave!😏 from previous posts, transfers were done in as little as 30-40days..now it's taking about 60+ days to move along!

If anything, the whole VAWA process has taught us a very important lesson, which is “patience”. If we waited 16+ months for approval, we can surely wait a couple more months for the transfer and eventual interview+GC!

Again, the 3 P’s; “Prayer, Patience, Positivity” should be the mantra always 🙂

We should all feel grateful for having Sandra here. It's very necessary to hire a good lawyer for any kind of legal case. They are just not always affordable though.

Personally I feel grateful for having Sandra here to keep us updated on legal issues..I also feel grateful for the thousands of folks here who aren't attorneys but contribute tremendously to this forum! There are so many brilliant, smart and intelligent folks here and I've learned from everyone! Integrity has nothing to do with a price tag! You're just who you are..so I don't think the more expensive an attorney is, the better!☺

Hi all, I need a little bit of help and a good advise.

I feel like my lawyer wants to make mistakes intentionally so she charge me more later for fixing it.

I mean she does not want to send a latter to USCIS asking to hold I485 until VAWA case is processed. She says that she got different tactics, etc. What do you think about it? Should I request it by my own ?
About extension of EAD+AP, she said me to do it by my own or she charges me more again. I was doing everything by my own before, except VAWA case because I didnt even know it exists until my situation happened.

So, I will go and apply for EAD+AP extension by my own.
As my I360 is pending I am not applying based on c31, right?
EAD is still based on pending I485, which is c09, correct?
Also, in instructions it says that if I am applying for a renewal based on pending I485 then I send it to Chicago (which I bet I am)
Other option is pending I485 based on approved I360 (mine is not approved yet) then applying to Vermont...which I bet I am not.
Am I right or not?
Also, I don't have my I360 receipt, my lawyer never sent me a copy, but she sent me Prima Facie copy over email. Or I need I360 receipt to apply?

Thank you in advance guys!!! Have a great week.

To file I765 you need a copy of your AOS receipt. You will file category C9 and you will file with Vermont.

Hello everyone I just want to ask, can I use a PO Box as my new address? I am still waiting for the rest of the approvals and I am anticipating to be living in a shelter or with a friend in the near future. Any feedback will be appreciated. Thank you!

Yes you can use a PO box.
