Hi Sandra,

My VAWA was approved on March-9th -2019  (After RFE) and I filed in April-2017. since last 2+ months, I have not heard any update or movement of I485. my I485 showing name was updated in Jan-2019.

I have attorney on my case and I pushed her for the e-request and one month passed there is no update on the e-request. My attorney did do a good job during RFE response, and I took driver's seat to finish my RFE response on time, then handed over the RFE response to attorney.

Now,

  1. Can I raise the second e-request by myself ?
  2. Can I book infopass appointment by myself and go without my attorney as my attorney is busy , not willing to pursue the case aggressively (may be she is focusing on new client for better money)  ?
  3. How much time it takes to adjudicate I-485 after VAWA approval if case is already out of normal processing time ?
  4. Can by any other mean I can check what is going on ?

Uscis website is not reliable .You can go to infopsss tho. It depends where you live bit the AOS might take 6/12 months to be scheduled .

Good afternoon Family

I have an appointment with my psychologist this sunday. The same psychologist who issued an initial evaluation report now he will work on more detailed report as requested by USCIS through RFE.

Should I consult another psychiatrist as well or his detailed report would be sufficient?

Also, i do not have a shelter house report but my wife did thrown me out of her house and 1 time I stayed in hotel and 2nd time in a relative house. How can I convince USCIS through my affidavit? I can provide hotel receipt and my cousin will write an affidavit as well. Do you guys think it should be okay?

Thank You

A detailed affidavit brings closure to any missing link in your experience/history of abuse..which is the main thing USCIS is trying to establish! So yes any credible evidence will suffice..this includes receipts...affidavits from witnesses..etc...you can not manufacture what you don't have! I didn't even have so much..everyone's case is different..you don't have to have as much evidence as the next person because you're not in their position..the only thing we all have in common is ABUSE!..but the degree and patterns vary/differ!  All evidences can never be the same! I keep saying that the importance of a detailed affidavit can not be over-emphasized!!! Give them what you have you will be fine!

@Stillwinning!!!😊 Does this forum has a divorce section because I wanna start the process and it’s expensive like $1700-$2500 in Virginia. Just try communicating with Spouse which don’t know my immigration status still being emotionally abusive and wants me to pay her to sign the papers if I’m to start the process.

you can go online, do it yourself if uncontested.

there are many organizations that help too.

ask around in the places were you had therapy ssssions

Hi everyone. what is the procedure at immigration check points if you have different last names. I changed my name when i was married to my e-husbands but i have a divorce now with my maiden name restored back. I sent a copy to USCIS but they never updated my name in my ead. Will that be a problem when coming back into the country? My passport has my maiden name while my parole has my ex-husbands last name. do you think having my divorce decree with me will help?

I think you should have your divorce decree, if planning to travel, usually passport and travel document must match you need to explain the officer on your entry if he ask. also any other documents that show your ex husband last name before the change will also help.... I don't know how the name change works or handle with USCIS if it happens when we renew any documents and we change it in the form...  (EAD, GC etc)
