Hey it's a whole book on that on these threads..especially previous ones...but here's a recap: gather all documents to prove you had a qualifying relationship with your spouse..that is marriage certificate, spouse USC proof or LPR proof, prove bonafide marriage..also that you lived with your spouse, proof of good moral character and the ultimate..that you were a victim of abuse! If you present strong documentation on all five of these requirements, you'll likely be approved without RFE! 😊👍

If you have a link to that thread you mentioned I’ll appreciate that. She has the marriage certificate, so I have to go get it from the county court where we got married . For prove of her United States citizen status I can use the I-130 receipt she filed for me to prove that . To prove bonafide marriage I have

- Affidavit from a friend, mom and sister

- Light and internet bills from two years ago showing our names

- Bank account statements

- Life insurance

- Apartment Insurance documents

For good moral I have a letter from the police department confirming that

For abuse I have my mental psychological evaluations, am getting written statements from my therapist and counselor and also my 11 page self affidavit

If you consider you can do good research on your own I would recommend to do it yourself. I have not seen one attorney who is fully aware what VAWA entails; only Sandra from this forum knows.

I hired an attorney who filed everything for me. He didn't even know I could renew Employment Authorization while i-485 is still pending. He was only good to collect money and it was a pain in the butt to fire him and remove him from my USCIS file.

I originally filed I-485 package myself without a problem. In my opinion, the most important part is gathering enough evidence of the abuse to prove it to USCIS.

I wish you the best of luck, do what you consider best for you,  dear

Yes you’re right most of this lawyer don’t know much about vawa. I do not have her birth certificate and my attorney to be did not know I could use my I-130 receipt, she was talking about filing a FOA which would take months until Sandra told me I could use I-130 or go to vital records in my city . My lawyer don’t also know about the category to renew my EAD since I want to file vawa . I knew nothing about vawa and always thought if I was not a female I could not file vawa . But, this thread has helped me so much to understand vawa vividly.  And also. I’ve spoken to people on here who take their times to reply my message even during their busy schedules. I appreciate everyone here .

Good then you're almost set! But since you're doing it yourself, go over everything carefully..sandra and everyone here will guide you..I believe it's more helpful than a dumb attorney! Lots of folks filed by themselves and are approved! You can do it! ..and oh by threads I meant this here forum..visa journey! Just read previous threads it helps too! I did it..some people feel lazy to do that..but I tell you..most of the questions people ask here have already been answered over and over..it's just a few clicks back! You'll be fine!😊👍

You're lucky you found this forum prior filing!.. I wish I had and wouldn't have the need of an attorney. It looks like you have everything necessary to file, if you have a safe address the mail from USCIS can go to, I would file on my own but again it is entirely up to you. If you  have any questions we are all here on the same boat and we're not lawyers but can share our experiences.

How do I change my address on my VAWA case...? Any advice will be appreciated guys. Thanks

Send a notarized letter, explain your old address and new address. Once they update, your online status will say "we changed your name". If you don't hear from them within 90 days, you can ask a congressman to confirm the change.

LOL 😁😁 I know right...I'm especially happy for @Elena hope because it took just 4 months from i360 approval to interview schedule!! I see a recent trend in USCIS processing now..those cases approved in 2019 are fast getting interview notice..WOW! So cool! 😂👍

July what year

Really hun? Yikes! That’s pretty disappointing in your part but at least it’s moving. Some people are just born lucky lol ☘️. Yours will come soon!

Hey guys

I am new here.

I filed for VAWA in July 2018

went for Biometrics in August 2018

got a RFE in August 2018

sent it back right away...

got Prima Facie in September 2018

anyone else that filed around July 2018??? How long will it take until I hear from them again? My last status update when they received my RFE was almost 12 months ago.

now my case status is:

On August 28, 2018, we received your response to our Request for Evidence for your Form I-360, Petition for Amerasian, Widow(er), or Special Immigrant, Receipt Number EAC.

Our Vermont Service Center office will begin working on your case again.

We will mail you a decision or notify you if we need something from you.

Yes..what you got was a request for initial evidence..they are attending to Jan/Feb 2018 now alongside pending 2017 cases..so perhaps in the next 6months plus..just keep your fingers crossed..you never know..USCIS is unpredictable!
