Hi Mr Brooklyn you're very welcome here! You said you live in Brooklyn and your field office is queens?😕  anyway the way I see it..you may not receive courtesy letter..probably just go straight to the interview letter...most folks didn't receive courtesy letter..just a surprised interview letter! So brace yourself your interview is around the corner!

Thank you @ stillwinning for the kind words!!

All address change must be directed to Vermont via written medium! They know about all your cases..It's all linked but different jurisdictions! So are you trying to get rid of your attorney? That's the only way you'll receive the mails directly...for now he is the attorney on file all correspondence go to him!

Oh nice..that explains something to me! Daniella told me the Brooklyn office is undergoing some construction or so...because I remember they used to direct Brooklyn residents to the Brooklyn office..I used to live in Brooklyn too my first interview at federal plaza was at the Brooklyn office that was in 2018 January! That's probably why queens isn't going as fast as it used to...queens usually tops the speed! More workload I guess!

My husband filed for divorce, not me. The divorce process is still ongoing, but not over.
I am outside the country and I have a lawyer. Should I no longer get a divorce? Is there more time for a divorce or is it not important? I don't speak English very well, sorry ...
Should I have time for a divorce? a lot of time ... Does it matter or not?

The divorce doesn’t matter in your Vawa case. You can divorce when you want .

I have another question @sandranj I already have i1485 filed concurrently with i360. I told my attorney at the time to file for AP as well. I want to see my family so bad. She said not to leave the country until VAWA is approved. Can I file i131 on my own and use a safe address? Do all the forms you submit have a unique return address? My forms were submitted using my attorney's address. I want to submit i131 on my own and use a different address. I wonder if it will change the address for the other forms as well. I was never on removal proceeding (or not yet) and have no criminal record. If I already have Prima Facie, and my AP was issued, is it still likely to get Notice to Deny while I'm abroad? I know I'm overthinking.

You can file form l131 but when your attorney will find out he /she might end his/her representation.

You have the right to file l131 tell him to file and that is it . They can deny ANYONE to reenter in the U.S. but if you are not in removal proceedings and don’t have s criminal record you should not have problem to reenter in the U.S.

Hey Guys, want to give my experience on this topic when I went to my initial AOS interview here in NYC office, After my lawyer handle I-360 receipt to the officer and explain to him the marriage was broken, the officer ask me for my divorce decree my lawyer promptly responded we haven't filed yet, His face change and he look at the I-360 receipt which  is June 2018 and my Interview was on May 2019, he said OK well your I-485 cannot be process now since I-360 is pending in Vermont unit i will ship I-485 to Vermont and you will be scheduled for a second interview you will have more time to start the process.....  I did not mind what he said I was just happy he held my I-485. Until i see this conversation on here, Every officer is different but USICS expect you to divorce your abuser at some point if I-360 taking 16-24 months plus the adjustment of status time we talking about almost 2 years or more process, we have a consider time to get divorce or to at least try to start the process. Is logical to do so, because been married to someone is also being tie and have  jointly responsibility in the eyes of the law. So Maybe NOT require at the interview but is expected.

(just my personal and point of view as I saw the officer reaction your experience can be different)...

I agreed with your opinion.

To change your address in your VAWA case you must submit a notarized letter to Vermont.

Amen, amen and a BIG AMEN!!! I claim it joyfully in Jesus Mighty name, amen!! Thank you so much!! My God has been faithful to me and my children, HE brought me out from 16 years of marital bondage and torture into HIS light, to see that there's a kinder, warmer, much loving world out there and I have fully embraced that love. I am so happy, and I have peace and joy in my heart, I just thank God everyday.

Side note: the sadist asked our church to broker a reconciliation, he actually had the nerve to promise them that he is "a changed man", and he has seen the light, ha!! He wants to finish the work he started, this time, it will be untraceable, God forbid!! I reject him, my spirit rejects him, my soul rejects him. He should tell that to someone who just met him!! So the church called me today to see if they could set up a meeting saying he promised them that he would sign papers to that effect and he would undergo anger management for 6 months, that he doesn't want to lose me and our children. Really???. I politely declined and told them to inform him that I will be joining the convent (hopefully he walks away after hearing that 🙂) so that door is closed, at least to him. I just thank God and celebrate my life every single day. Thank you Jesus🙏

I am glad you stopped the circle of abuse. Do not look back. He fell short of God's command,  and I am sure the eternal fire prepared for the devil will make him truly repent, but it's too late, lol. Speak against domestic violence!!!!

Hello everyone,

I have been separated with my wife since June 2018, I filed i360 August 2018 , my wife filed for divorce in July 2018 in Florida , and we had a hearing for divorce July 2019 where the judge dismissed her petition because it was fraudulent and at the time of filing didn't meet the residency requirements,

However one week before before the divorce hearing,  I received death threats from her and her boyfriend trying to scare me if I ever show up in court and try to defend myself,  which led me to file an emergency order of protection against her and stalking protection against him , in Illinois.

In the meantime,  she filed one against me the very next day in Florida.

My question is can she use that against me ? Because I am certain that she will send it to USCIS to try to screw me up somehow.

Thanks.

Go to the hearing that you will have regarding the restraining order. The Court grants the restraining order and then you have the hearing. She has to prove  why the restraining order should be extended.  YOU MUST attend the hearing ok,  otherwise this can have serious implications in your VAWA case. USCIS does not take into consideration letters from the abuser,  but they  take into consideration a restraining order against you, if extended.
