Good morning all!!!

went to get biometrics taken went in at 8am and was out by 8:30am. They only took my right hand (four fingers) for biometrics.

I taught that was odd but the lady said it’s a new process. How about y’all’s?

Also  I don’t know if my picture was right or not. I have the feeling I looked up instead of looking at the camera. But I guess they would have tell me.

Is the biometric picture use for the citizen certificate???

I checked mine just now (roughly an hour after biometrics). no updates yet but I noticed the estimated completion time has changed to January 2020 (when I filed it was estimated to be completed February 2020).

Mine got updated like 3 hours after the biometrics, but I noticed that the website updates faster compared to logging in to your account.

The biometrics appointment notification says "The photo taken may be used on your naturalization certificate" (second sentence right below the QR code of your appointment letter).

They would have told you if the picture wasn't ok.

They took also only my right hand. I could look at the monitor while taking the fingerprints, and the system automatically pulled up my old fingerprints of my index.

So, I believe it's just a new method they use..and the system automatically retrieve your old one.

😨 thank you for pointing that out. (Just re-read the letter). I guess the picture was ok because they didn’t say anything 🙄

Thank you! Your comment gave me peace of mind. You’re right they would have told me if my eyes were looking up.

I glanced at it and I guess it looked ok but I didn’t pay attention to details.

I’m probably overthinking.

April filer here butting in to bring even more peace of mind haha:

The reason your biometric prints were 4 fingers is that you most likely had a code 5 biometric letter (tells you in the upper right corner of letter I think). Code 5 is 4 prints on one hand. Your previous biometrics were probably a code 3, which is all 10 fingers. Mine was code 3 for my i485, but code 5 for N400.

Regarding your picture, I am sure you have nothing to worry about. Wanna know how I know? My picture came out looking like some sort of frowning Ursula (little mermaid villain). I had to take my glasses off and couldn't see where the camera was plus the lady kept saying "chin down" so yeeeahhh that was great:-) If they kept THAT horror show of a picture...then yours is fine - guaranteed! Have a great day 🙂
