Congrats to you! We just received an online notification today stating that our I-751 interview has been scheduled. Filed N400 on the 8th of April, 2021 so we are guessing it's just going to be the I-751.

My I-751 interview for my June 2019 filing was finally scheduled in January (for early Feb interview). However, I had moved to a different state and didn't realize that changing my address online wouldn't change my address for the application. I requested them to reschedule the interview via phone. The status of my I-751 went back to "Ready to be scheduled", and then never heard back about the I-751. The next notice for interview was for my N-400, which turned out to be a combo interview. Since the evidence to be presented is pretty similar for both, I-751 and N-400 (3 year), a combo interview makes more sense but I guess you don't really get a choice.

Anyone on here getting a biometrics notice AFTER an I-751 was already approved and a green card received? We received our green card 5 months but got a notice ( dated from 5 days ago) asking us to appear for a biometrics in 2 weeks from now. Just curious if anyone has seen this before? And what if we ignore it and don't go since we already have our green card.

Wondering if anyone has experience with this:
Got a RFE for my I-751 - the request was for us to sign the petition. The letter stated that they "cannot accept photocopied signatures."  The thing is - we definitely signed our petition in June 2019 (I have a scan).

My case was transferred to the National Benefits Center last year, so the only thing I can think of is they transferred a photocopy of my original (mailed) petition. Does anyone have an experience similar to this? Frustrating that it's likely to add even more time to my processing.

Any insights/thoughts welcome! Thank you!

My timeline:

  • June 2019 - I-751 filed (CA Service center).
  • January 2020 - I-751 Biometrics
  • June 2020 - Filed N-400 (San Francisco local office)
  • Aug 2020 - I-751Case transferred
  • Dec 2020 - N-400 Biometrics reuse
  • June 2021 - I-751 Requested update as outside normal processing time
  • June 2021 - I-751 RFE

June I-751 filer: On April 12, 2021,   my wife's I-751 petition case was approved but no10 year green card was sent because USCIS thought the N-400 was approved which was an error because the next day we received notice that  the Citizenship interview was scheduled for May 17th.   My wife then passed the exam and was recommended for approval of her citizenship.   We went in for an infopass meeting and the   Immigration Services Officer told us that her cases (naturalization and removal of conditions) were at an impasse because staff who were processing the N-400 application and the I-751 petition were not communicating.  The Officer said that she and her supervisor would “reach out” to  the Immigration Services Officer who conducted the naturalization interview, to expedite the naturalization application or, failing that, clear the way to issuing the Green Card to which the Officer acknowledged that my wife was entitled. We were assured this would be resolved quickly but the logjam persisted with no resolution despite writing  directly contacting the Office Director, USCIS Ombudsman, a Senator and a Congressman.  I sent a draft copy of a writ of mandamus with a demand letter to the USCIS and then filed a writ of mandamus in federal court.  Thereafter, the USCIS sent a second  I-751 approval letter followed by a green card.  What a waste of taxpayer resources and the time of folks who legally followed the immigration laws just to be placed in limbo through no fault of their own.

July 19 update - New Card Is Being Produced!

Really thought I'd get a combo with my N400 application. 25.5 months processing time. 🤯

Thrilled!

We finally got our green card in July after being approved in April and we looked forward to travel without the Adit stamp and went to Colombia  for a mini-vacation.  We returned early in the morning to Miami Global entry area as we had at the end of April, and as I pulled the Global Entry receipt out the machine and placed it on top of the machine, a hand out of nowhere appeared and grabbed it, looked at it and returned it to the top of the machine and left.  It was Officer "Adit" who had "helped" us in April (shouting out "Adit Stamp" to the other Immigration Officers) and escorted us to secondary inspection after we had passed the immigration inspector in the "box."   This time I threw caution to the wind and I told him that we saw you in April.  Officer "Adit" seemed a little quizzical but moved away.  Then we had to pass by him again and give him the receipts.  Again, with only three hours sleep, I couldn't help myself and commented, "you helped us in April" and we were the ones with the adit stamp."  I continued, "she received her new Green Card." Again he looked startled, accepted the receipts and waived us through.  And after all the trouble we went to to get the physical green card (congressionals, info pass apt. and lawsuit) , we never showed it once on United States soil.  Only at the airport in Colombia.

Tell me please, did you have a stamp I 551  on your passport? and the migration Officers did not want to let you in the USA? In September, I'm going to fly on vacation, my GC is expired, but I have a I 551 stamp on my passport.

Yes.  the I-551is the adit stamp.  With this you will not be denied entry.   The point I was making was not that they did not want us to enter the USA, in this case, it opened my wife up to more scrutiny for whatever reason.  (possibly there is issues with security of the adit stamp).  It was very irritating to me that they appeared to be sending all of the adit stamp holders to secondary inspection when the USCIS Field Office told us that the adit stamp was being treated the same as a green card.  When we went to secondary inspection it was 6 am and no one there but we still waited for 20 minutes.  If it was crowded, we might have missed our next flight as that is not their concern as the permanent resident is being detained involuntarily as long as they deem necessary.  As a US citizen and attorney, I found their attitude condescending and arrogant and was determined not to let it happen again.  We suffered because of their incompetence in processing the I-751.

Thank you so much for sharing your updates... as very rarely someone from NY posts here.

I'm Queens office, filed same time as you, my case was in Vermont then transferred to NBC and ready to be scheduled for an interview - been waiting for over a year now.

How long did you wait for an interview date or they informed you just now that you will be having one?

I guess I'll be waiting much longer as I didn't apply for n400 and in a divorce process.

Thank you!!!

Have you file outside of normal processing time form or contacted Ombudsman?  Your case is pending 25 months.

No, I haven't as I see that's not helpful.

Also, the online processing times are for the big offices.  Once your case is ready to be scheduled for an interview that means it's already in the local office and the wait time doesn't apply there anymore.

When I went to get the stamp the officer told me that it can take up to 5 years 🤦‍♀️ as the NYC office was backlogged.
