Hi VJ fam.

So im a bit confused, ive pretty much gathered everything needed to submit the I864EZ but i was a bit confused when it mention tax returns. My husband and i have filed taxes together since we got married in 2015, they want transcripts which i have already and want W2s, i apparently cant find them with the tax packets we were given after filing. Is there anything else i can do? i really dont want them to ask for more RFE

You have to give them W2s because they have to be able to tell if your income alone qualifies. Without the W2, how can they tell how much you make and how much your husband makes.

You can request W-2 transcripts from the IRS, (not the full transcript, just reported income). The other option is to contact your former employer(s). They most definitely will have them on file, and should provide them to you.

Self deleted comment, which was specific to I-864. After further reading, I-864EZ does require that if you have IRS transcripts for a joint filing, you must provide W-2 in order to verify your individual income.

I would do that. Any decent HR/Payroll department would be able to get that to you in 2 seconds.

Or file the I-864 instead of EZ version.

The other thing to note is, you have to provide the W-2 for both the the spouses. NVC will let that go, but eventually at Embassy they will want to see all W2s for all people in that joint filing.

One of them lives and works abroad, so will have no W2.  W2 is a US tax form.

True, although I don't know how they would handle that. When I sponsored my mom, I did the EZ because my income alone qualifies and I don't want to get my wife on anything 864 related. So I submitted the joint tax return/transcript and my W2s. However, the NVC sent a letter specifically ask for "All W2s related to the filing" and I figured that must be the wife's W2 they asked for and indeed, they did. I brought it to the Embassy. If didn't do that, we probably got a 221g

I know how they would handle it in the OP's situation.  That's WHY I made the recommendation. 😉
