But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I didn't really get a chance to look at the video last night at work. Now that I have seen it I do think it's pretty cool! Very much like Star Trek! I see that they have to "tag" things to get it to recognize it. I think as computer power gets better that need will go away. Computers are one of the things that have fulfilled the futuristic promises made. I saw the other day a prediction that in 10 years a conscious computer will be made. I wonder how that will change our world? It will be the ultimate "user friendly" interface for computers. Just ask questions and it will understand what you want, the context you asked the question in and give you a useful answer.

I like the way you can pay for your restaurant bill by putting your card on the surface (although no doubt they'd have to come up with some new security safeguards for that).

I would suppose they could put biometrics on your card (a thumb print) and it could scan your card and your thumb at the same time.

Just RFID. They have that now. In Hong Kong you can wave your mass transit pass over a sensor to pay for things at convenience stores. They've had it for years already over there.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

NBC had this on the morning news. Pretty amazing stuff.

Did anyone see that Ewan McGregor movie - The Island?

It featured a tabletop computer that was almost identical to what they're showing here.

The Island was a decent film! I'd like to get one of those motorbikes.

I liked it more or less - even though it borrowed liberally from Logan's Run. That holocaust subtext was a bit un-necessary IMO, but in keeping with Michael Bay's politics.

I think the society in Logan's Run was that no one over a certain age lived there, whereas The Island was basically a large, human parts greenhouse.

Word is that the original writer on The Island was fired, and someone else was brought in to "Bay-ify" the script (basically slot in all the gratuitous action that his movies are known for). The movie did seem a little uneven to me - the first 3rd was actually the most interesting but after they escaped it was a typical chase story. Bay's best movie IMO - but not for the stuff he added.

I've noticed that when I watched Spiderman3 - there's this big adrenaline rush watching but then afterwards I feel nothing about the story that resonates in me. It's like a roller coaster ride. Perhaps that what the aim is because it brings in the numbers at the box office. Moviegoers seem to be on thrill kick these days.

I had pretty much the same reaction to SM-3 - too much going on in the script and it suffered as a result. Some of the continuity was just terrible - Peter & Harry's dispute was resolved in the laziest way possible that didn't really have very much catharsis. That's the thing really - you can't really grip the audience with action alone, you've got to actually create interesting characters and dramatic situations - otherwise you might just as well be watching a 2 hour music video.

Pirates 3 was better - but still somewhat clicheed and suffered from having to tie up all those plot threads from that mediocre & overplotted Dead Man's Chest.
