Hi, I would like to ask if any of you had the same situation as I am..

 

I already filed my forms 485, 130, 765 & 131.

(i already have form 797 and done with the biometrics appointment)

 

i filed under my legal name (single)..

 

I was wondering if I can change my forms to my married name so I can have my spouse's last name?

I think it is too late.  Your Green Card will be in the name under which you filed.  You'll just have to make changes afterwards now.  This is all part of planning beforehand......good luck on the rest of your journey.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Because i tried calling USCIS and they said  I can send a request letter to National Benefits Center (NBC) to at least change for my 765 and 131..

 

Nevertheless, I should be fine and thinking of changing my name after all of these approved.

You can try....maybe it will work.......but having a mixture of names among documents usually causes issues somewhere...

You can request that the name be updated. This would be for each individual form. I would include another copy of the marriage certificate as evidence f the legal name change.

 

If the I-485 is approved without the updated name, you would need to file an I-90 to get a new card in the married name (including paying the I-90 fee).

All forms are still on processing.

 

Done with biometrics..

 

I wonder if it could messed up my application tho.

It shouldn't. Either they will update the name before processing them or they will process them before the name update is made in the system.
