Thanks! Well, I have to say that I feel that we had stepped up our inquiries--so maybe that prompted some action but you never know.

1) We contacted our Senator who contacted USCIS 2x, and finally we were told that we were pending security checks that ALL applicants must undergo. (I don't think that's true in the case of the EAD..)

2) I wrote in to the Ombudsman AND called them.

3) I called the USCIS number a few times and had the call "escalated" to an agent. I told them that if the EAD was going to be delayed due to checks, they need to make this transparent and not say "that if you don't get the EAD within 90 days, call uscis"...I had a very obnoxious agent this last time i called.

4) Contacted AILF about my case.

5) Got 2 notices saying that we are pending background checks.

About 3 weeks later--we get our "card production ordered" email!

I honestly had given up and was thinking we were in for a 2 year wait...but I guess that maybe the multiple inquiries could have helped..am not sure.
