our interview this morning went excellent!!!! i will write up a full review but im exhausted right now so i will just let you know the outcome! we are approved pending the namecheck! WOOHOO!!!!!

We went to our AOS interview today and it was APPROVED!! Yay!! Our interview was at 9:03AM but we got there about 8:30 and waited. There was only one other couple there. A lady called us at about 8:55A and we went and sat in her office. She interviewed us both in Spanish since my husband doesn't speak English. One of his friends came in case he needed an interpreter and they wouldn't let me translate but luckily the lady spoke Spanish. She asked to see our passports and ID's and then asked a few questions like how did we meet, when did we meet. She asked me how many times I had been to Peru and I told her about 8-9 times and she was like..."Really, that's expensive, how did you afford that" like she didn't really believe me - but I just told her that I worked and saved money to go and when I was younger my parents also helped me out and also my church when I went on missions trips there. She asked me what my husband's parents names were and how many people came to our wedding. She asked us why we wanted to live here instead of in Peru. She asked him for our home address and telephone number and his social security number and some of the "No" questions. She had a HUGE file of basically every paper we've ever sent in. She asked to see some documents of stuff we have together so we showed her bank statements, medical/life insurance and a letter from my dad stating we are living in his house for the time being. I asked her if she wanted to see my wedding pictures but she said no. I was disspointed b/c I worked really hard on our photo albums of our wedding. She asked what we had in common and why we were attracted to each other. Then she had us sign a paper saying that the green card was only conditional and that in 90 days of expiration we need to apply for the conditional status to be removed, blah, blah, blah and that was it - she said he would receive his green card within 30 days. All that only took about 10 minutes - we were out of there by 9:10 and we never even showed all of the other documents. At least that is over and we get a break for 2 years!!!!

hey i cant remember and im too lazy to read thru all 70 pages of posts lol....was there anyone else in our lil group that got approved pending the namecheck? im starting to get REALLY worried after reading about people on other topics that have been waiting from ten months up to two years. our IO said that it was basically because the USCIS has finally caught up after being two years behind and that the state department has yet to catch up with them. im hopeing thats the problem, that we got interviewed so fast that the namecheck wasny complete.

and.....i guess i should type up our interview experience!!

our IO was AWESOME! the first thing she did was talk about liscence and passport photos and how bad they are, we were all just laughing lol. she really broke the ice and made us very comfortable! her name was Ms Blair so if you get her, dont worry, shes nice! she was totally cool abotu us not having lots of stuff in both our names since john doesnt have his SS# yet and was glad with the few things we had. she looked thru my entire wedding album and comment on how much she loved my dress! i had another stack of pics that she looked thru and she was very sad that i didnt bring any pics of men in kilts from scotland she kept joking about her love for men in kilts and wants us to think of her when we go back to visit! and when she went thru and was asking john all the "are you a terrorist, have you been a communist" stuff, she asked if he had ever been a prostitute (LMAO!) and if he had participated in prostitution trafficking, and NO LIE, she literally said "in other words, have you ever been a pimp?" and just cracked up laughing. she was awesome and said "dont worry, i believe you guys!" and then told us about the namecheck situation. all together two thumbs up!

im just kinda freaking out about the namecheck now!!!

Hi guys, I'm late to the party as usual. I went to work immediately after the interview soo.. thus my late report.

First let me say CONGRATS chelsea.and.john :dance: and here's wishing a FAST run through name check! You had a nice and interested lady, great!

CONGRATS NatyLaloPeru! :dance: Wow that was a lot of questions they asked you guys! But great that it was all in Spanish so your hubby could understand!

As for us, WE ARE APPROVED!!! WHOOHOOO!!!! :dance:

Our interview was at 9:30 and we arrived exactly at 9:30. After going through security someone took us up to the 7th floor, it was 9:40 when we arrived at the waiting room. Only one other couple was there. After about 5 minutes we were called in by a tired-looking gentleman, I think Chinese decent. He looked bored and distracted. First thing he asked if I was the lawyer! Haha! He said usually the lawyers bring the big file folders (we had three of them!). I introduced the translator and he said, “Oh, we don’t need him, you can translate for your husband.” But he let our translator come in anyway (he had no work to do, poor fellow ).

In the room, he asked all three of us to swear to tell the truth. Then we sat and he asked for my hubby’s ID (passport) and my ID (driver’s license).

Then he made notes on paper and TORE THE I-94 OUT OF MY HUBBY’S PASSPORT! OMG I was trying to keep a straight face as I’ve heard that it is a sign that the case was approved! Then he returned our IDs.

He asked hubby our address. He asked him, “Do you have any children?” (No) and that was the ONLY personal question or comment during the interview!

Then he asked whether he joined any group or org, whether he was arrested either here or in India, wherether he joined any communist org, and whether he was ever deported from any country.

Then after making more notes, he leaned back and said, “Only one more thing, do you have any proof that this is a bona fide marriage?”

I handed over documents with both our names (PG&E statement, bank account, credit card, notarized statements from 2 friends, apartment lease). He took them without even looking at them and shoved them into our file he had on his desk.

Then he said, “I'm APPROVING YOUR CASE, the green card will come in the mail within 2 weeks.”

Then he told us how this is conditional and 90 days before it expires we need to renew it blah blah…

And that’s it! Ten minutes of EASE! WHOO HOO! (Hubby answered all questions himself and even I did not have to translate! Way to go honey!! )

We started our visa journey nearly a year ago and what a RELIEF – no more paperwork!!

deedot has her Timeline filled out: date filed June 6, NOA date June 16, RFE July 5, Biometrics June 29, Transfer and approval Aug 25, Greencard received Sept 7

Lady N, no Timeline filled out. July 28 RFE, Aug 6 post mentions making infopass appointment to ask what info is needed for the RFE, and post on Sept 7 mentions that the RFE had been send in.
