Basically, the point of applying for EAD and AP as well is that it might take a long time to get your greencard, and at least with EAD/AP you can work and travel while you wait. Some people are caught in namechecks for like 2 years. Some people get their greencard before their EAD/AP even get a touch. It's a gamble, really.

Edit: Roy and Yazi beat me to it. :)

just as Angilla points out, when you submit your AOS application, you can't be sure how long it will take.

it's kind of like auto insurance, it's better when you don't have to use it. ;)

Hi June Filers,

I got my EAD in the mail today. I have been checking my status online constantly, but there was no update since 7/02/2007 for I-765, but I have gotten 2 touches last 2 weeks for I-485. I didnt get any email notice either.

I hope everybody will get such surprise mails next coming days...

Congratulations to all who have received their EAD/AOS :thumbs: ... I'm still waiting to hear about our application.. They still haven't touched our EAD since 6/29 but our AOS was touched 2 days ago..I really hope that I will also get a surprise anytime soon..it doesn't matter whether it's EAD or AOS.. :)

Hi June Filers,

I got my EAD in the mail today. I have been checking my status online constantly, but there was no update since 7/02/2007 for I-765, but I have gotten 2 touches last 2 weeks for I-485. I didnt get any email notice either.

I hope everybody will get such surprise mails next coming days...

I had stopped checking for emails and the USCIS website for touches and updates, because I felt like I was letting it consume me. However, after reading your post last night I decided to check just out of curiosity, so I went to my email first and there was a message from USCIS stating that a production of my EAD card was ordered! I was so shocked! That was my first update since June 30th. The only ironic thing is that I'll probably get my Green Card around the same time I get the EAD because m interview is next Tuesday.
