AOS & EAD June 2007 Filers

Hello Guys,

I called the USCIS last Monday to follow up my case because still I don't have Biometric yet and at the online website still received and pending no touch at all they said I have to call them back again if I will not receive within 30 days . As you can see my timeline I received the Notice of Action last June 29 ..... Any idea pls?

I checked our application's status online and it showed that our AOS was touched again on 7/31..however, still no touches/updates on our EAD ..last touched was back in 6/29.. Is it normal to have a case like ours? Do they process EAD applications at the benefits center in MO or do they send it to the local district office? (It'll be Fairfax,VA for our case) I know very well that our applications are within USCIS "normal processing times" but I can't help to ask especially when I leave my husband by himself at our place everyday that I go to work. I know he's bored to death by now and it makes me sad too...I really wish there's something I can do to speed up his AOS or even at least his EAD process.

We were going to file for EAD because it seems this is going to take a while and my husband's pretty anxious to work but since the fees went up it's so expensive.... $340 for a one year EAD?? That's sick

The EAD's are held and processed at the MSC. I wouldn't worry about it yet. Normal processing time for the EAD is 60 to 90 days and from what I've seen on the VJ site most are completed within this time frame.

Our time line is close to the same as yours and our EAD has only been touched once since submitted.

Our AOS was also sent to CSC and has been touched 4 times........three days in a row. 7/31- 8/1 and 8/2 since it arrived there. Hopefully we will both get the Green Card before the EAD is approved. Wouldn't that be nice?

Is it normal to have a case like ours? ... I know he's bored to death by now...

It looks like there is no "normal" regarding case processing - the only normal thing is WAITING! No understanding what is happening with any of our cases.

Why not check out http://www.volunteermatch.org/, my husband found a great volunteer job there, he could spend 6 hours a day out of the house feeling useful and it really kept him occupied! Also it gave him a valuable reference and work experience here in USA.

$340 for a one year EAD?? That's sick

I would say it is not necessary to file EAD, because hopefully your AOS will be processed before the EAD is granted. However, when contemplating the fees, just think how long it would take to earn $340 - probably only a week or two, right? A week's salary for a year's work permission isn't so bad, in my opinion! (Compared to earning NOTHING at all without the EAD!)

Hi Kayz -- I feel for you. Our EAD/AP/AOS application has never been touched before the biometrics. I am only hoping not to trust too much on the online system. When I filed my USC and got approved last May, the online status is still showing pending even if I complete the process. The EAD is for my hubby. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they may be working on the files even if its not reflecting the the touches. I received the interview letter a week after the biometrics and even then, there were no touches in the AOS.

Volunteering may be a good idea. Ironically, my hubby is taking all this waiting in a stride. I am really more anxious and (close to self destruct mode ) until at least his EAD comes around. Nothing is really within our control at this point and we can only hope and pray. Try to keep yourselves busy -- is just one to two months more in a lifetime.

Just wanted to say, don't worry... this is absolutely normal! I think most people's I-765s get a few touches in the beginning, then one after the biometrics appointment, then..... nothing. They do take around 90 days (sometimes a bit quicker) to process, but don't expect to see any activity on there in the meantime! The last touch I had on my EAD was on June 30th, just after my biometrics appointment, and I doubt that will change until the day it's approved! (Hopefully in the next few weeks....)
