I'm sorry Angilla that they misplaced your W2s. Send them in again immediately and get your application rolling! How did you sent the package in, by the way? I punched the holes on top and put those metal thingys, hoping that it would prevent papers getting separated & misplaced. I guess we are at their mercy though huh, once it is sent in.

Well, this is a little bit of a story. See, when we got married we figured we'd apply for AOS later because there was a lot going on in our lives and we just didn't have the time or patience to sit down and focus on it all, and we didn't want to rush through the application. Well, then on my Dad's 60th birthday, we found out that his cancer went terminal (on the treatment plan he was on he had a 97% chance of living a normal, happy healthy life) and he only had a few months left to live. We put off filing even more because we were spending every spare moment that we could with him. He died on Father's Day.

We knew we could file past my husband's 90-day-in-the-country mark, that he'd be out of status, and it'd be forgiven later... but we didn't want to play with that. We wanted his application in Chicago by June 21st. June 20th was Dad's wake. We tried to rush through it all but we'd never looked at AOS stuff before and was confused. The time for Dad's wake rolled around and we knew how adamant Dad was about us getting the paperwork in on time, and how mad he'd be if we didn't miss an hour of his wake to finish it all up, so that's what we did. We sent it out by Fedex at 6pm and it was signed for in Chicago at 11am.

So this package was much more disorganized than the K-1 package was. The K-1 package had cover letters for each section of documents, with tabs at the bottom so every pile of papers would be easily found. The AOS package had a cover letter on top, but other than that, groups were paper clipped together. For example, I paper clipped AOS stuff and in that I paper clipped other bunches like I-864. Behind each I-864, also paper clipped into it, was the tax return followed by W2s. I know they were in there. I checked over the packet a million times.

So anyway, yeah, I'll Fedex the new copies of the W-2s out to them today. I would've paid $20 for USPS overnight, I paid $30 for Fedex and it got there bright and early in the morning when I sent it out after the post office was closed. I'm starting to really like Fedex.

Thanks for the reply Angilla. I'm really anxious to get the EAD. We have not had any online updates ever since I've tracked the case. I hope its moving (and fast too!).

You're welcome. :) I think the online system is really lagging. I mean, I just got a RFE in the mail - and his online case status says nothing about a RFE! Everyone is rushing to file because of the July 30th fee increase (it goes from $395 + $180 + $170 which is able to be separated if you want it to be, to $1010 and you pay for EAD/AP even if you don't want it) and so the data entry people are probably really far behind. :(

But just so you know, generally, EAD applications are taking close to 90 days to be approved. Someone here in the June filers got approved after only like a month or something, so hopefully it'll speed up. I don't want to smash your hopes or anything but I just wanted you to know that you might not get it til September. We June filers are going to be talking for a few months, I guess that means we'll get to know each other pretty well and we'll all apply for lifting conditions at the same time - so we'll have a class reunion in two years.

I talk a lot. Can you tell?

What thing I forgot to mention at the biometrics appointment, was that the administrator mentioned to me that I would be receiving the EAD in 3 "weeks". I asked her: "weeks??". She replied, yes...

So either she's taking me for a ride and getting my hopes up, or something more bizzarre going on, or they are moving fast. Of course, I am a pessimistic that she even thought it would be ready in "weeks" time.

Sheesh... playing with my heart strings there, she was.

Weird! Did the online case status update when they got your RFE response?

I just sent out the tax info for me and my joint sponsor by postal service overnight... the address they included with the letter is a PO Box in Missouri, not Chicago, so that means no Fedex-ing like I wanted to. It's ok. :) Hopefully this won't delay things any. It's too stupidly small to cause a delay over.

Aww, well try to look at it this way. What good is worrying going to do? You know how if you stare at a clock because you're waiting for 10 minutes to go by that 10 minutes can seem like an eternity? But if you preoccupy yourself those 10 minutes go by like nothing. It's going to be the same thing with this. At least you're doing the waiting with your loved one. Preoccupy yourself and try not to worry, the process will go as it goes.

We should be close to the same schedule then, mine will arrive in MO tomorrow. I think the 90 day thing is just to cover their rear ends. For example, if you wait 80 days to send back the information they're looking for you can't expect to get a greencard in 10 days. Then you could say but look, it's been over 90 days since my NOA1 give me my stuff, and they could say but we just got the information you were looking for a few days ago, and it'd be a mess. But if you send it back the next week, or two or three weeks later, I don't think it'll delay the case much.

I am a little worry that I don't hear anything about interview :(

I'm in the same situation as you :( no transfer, no interview date nothing!! been over a month now since my biometrics were done, i'm starting to get a bit worried about this. I'm having major surgery done August 15th :crying: and will take around at least 6 weeks after that before i start to feel better (so my doctor told me) so it would be nice to know what USCIS is going to do...whether they are going to transfer my AOS to CSC or whether i'm going to have to go for an interview. :(

Oh Maria I am so sorry to hear about your surgery. That's really a burden too. Yes if you could at least have some results from USCIS then you would maybe feel better (F)

I had a very big surgery while waiting for my K-1 visa and actually didn't knew how it went. So a big stress was hanging over me if I even had a chance to use my visa in time. But everything went well and no problems after :D

Thank you Anette :D I only just found out that i needed this surgery done! Pity it wasnt diagnosed in the UK before i got here :( Its stressful enough just waiting around to have the surgery done knowing its going to change my life forever, without the added stress of Immigration, but i'm pretty tough, or at least i thought i was when until the (obgyn) dumped this bad news on me! I just wish i knew what was happening with my AOS, i'd be happy knowing either way..transfer or interview, that would take alot of stress of my shoulders and i could concentrate on my upcoming surgery and trying to stay positive about all this. Sorry, i'm just venting. Thanks for listening :)

Preoccupy yourself and try not to worry, the process will go as it goes.

it arrived in MO yesterday and no updates online now either! total strangeness. i am just hoping as well that there arent any delays. did your RFE state that they wouldnt start processing your case again for 90 days?? mine said that and im really not wanting to believe it. that can possibly be correct.

But if you send it back the next week, or two or three weeks later, I don't think it'll delay the case much.

my thoughts exactly. i dont blame them for wanting to cover their butts...but geez it can cause a heart attack when you read that!!! LOL
