AOS & EAD June 2007 Filers

We are relieved. We finally got our Biometrics Appointment Letter. Our Biometrics date is 8/4/2007. That is two months after our NOA1 date and just 3 weeks before our Interview date. But all is well.

As you can see, i don't have a biometrics schedule yet and we sent my application last June 1st. We got this email from USCIS:

Application Type: I485 ,

On July 16, 2007, we transferred this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER

PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER

location for processing

Is there any reason why they need to transfer it to CSC? and what should we expect from

this?

Congrats on being the first couple from our June Filers to get transferred to CSC.

Is it absolutely necessary to have a new social security card (with new married last name) when you go in for your AOS interview?

We are the same as you. We are waiting to get the EAD (or AOS) approval first, then we can return to get Maricel's maiden name corrected to her married name on her Social Security Card. You can be assured USCIS is aware of this issue and will accept your wife's Soc Sec Card in her maiden name along with the certified copy of your marriage certificate.

Correction on my previous post...my husband's AOS application was touched yesterday (7/16) and today (7/17) !! I hope it's not for a RFE though... Our EAD application was still untouched since 6/29

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Detty! I didn't know you were a June filer! It's funny how I feel sort of like a lot of us that got K-1s around the same time are in the same "graduating class"... but we're split up between the June and July filers. *sniff*

By the way, Steve-n-Ana, you could probably combine my hubby's AOS/EAD/AP. It was just split up like that because we received two NOA1s and the other got stuck in the mail, but they ended up having the same date once the last one came.

Hey everyone I know it's been a while since you all have heard anything from me, but I have been checking the USCIS website daily and had not received an update since June 30th. Today I did the same and still there were no updates, however, an hour later the mail man came and dropped off the mail and I received an interview notice for August 28th in Long Island !!!!!!!

Yip-Yip-Yahoo!!! I'm too excited.

Congrats Lisa! Just out of curiosity, where is the office where you'll have the interview? I'm a Long Islander too and am just wondering where and how far we'll have to go should we get an interview.

Hey everyone! I know that I've been silent for a while but the truth is that I was beginning to feel a bit discouraged since there hadn't been any updates on my case since I had my biometrics taken. Everyday I check the website and my email when I wake up and before I go to bed. This morning I did the same thing and a usual there were no updates on any of my forms so I just walked away from the computer and tried not to think about it. Then 1 hour later the mail woman came and I got an envelope stating that I had my interview scheduled for August 28th at 8:30 AM in Long Island! I was so excited that I called everyone that I knew. So I just wanted to let you all know that just because you do not see any updates on the website does not mean that your forms are not being attended to. Take it from me, the website is not always accurate. This is the second time this happened to me the first time it was when I filed the I-130. I had received the notice and then a couple days later the website stated that I would be receiving a notice shortly.

Well Good Luck to all. Just to let you know that I am still waiting on my EAD to arrive in the mail...I'll try not to think about it in the meantime.

Garden City, NY is where many of the interviews take place. The NYC office in Manhattan used to do it too in 2000/2001. Not sure if they do it there anymore, but most likely, NYkers and Strong Islanders will have it in Garden City.
