Biometrics Experience Today

First off, Annette, glad to know things are going to be OK re: your 765.

Today, I had my biometrics appointment in Alexandria, VA. Our ASC letter ordered me to be there at 2:00 pm, but I decided to leave much earlier and commuted my way there from DC. It was a rather efficient commute. (Yellow Line to Huntington Station, then the REX bus to the ASC) As per the letter, I did not bring my cell phone.

I got to the ASC at 1:00 pm and figured I had an hour to kill. There is a nice outdoor seating area under some pleasant trees and decided to do my NYT crosswords. A few minutes later, I figured I should "check-in" at the ASC. It was 1:20 pm. There was a security guard who was very efficient and not very smiley. She asked me for the ASC notice, asked to see my fingers and asked if I had a cell phone. She didn't even search me for the phone; she just asked. I guess technically, I could have brought my phone but just have it off.

The office was very clean, bright and seemed quite new. There were hardly any people in there. I filled in a general information sheet that asked for my name, SSN, notice receipt numbers etc. As soon as I was done, a young lovely Latina lady smiled and said, "are you ready, sir?". How charming, I said to myself. :)

We chatted a bit and she giggled when she tried, in earnest, to pronounce my middle name. She was like "how do you pronounce it?!" I smiled and said, "it's easy actually, just do it phonetically." She did and it was perfect.

She took detailed digital copies of my fingers and thumbs. I had an uncooperative left pinky who just didn't want to get recorded. We had to do it three times. :wacko:

Then she asked me if I was ready for my photo... I straightened out a bit and smiled. "Nice sir, but no teeth please." HAHHA. OK. So smiled with no teeth. Signed my name on an electronic pad and that was it.

I was out of the ASC at 1:35 pm; 15 minutes start to end (could have been shorter if I didn't shoot-the-######). Make note, that my ASC appointment was at 2:00 pm!

Here's praying that the inevitable interview was just as pleasant. That's going to be at the Fairfax, VA local office.

That sounds to be the exact story as mine by the biometric. hahaha

Very nice people and we don't have to be so afraid.

When I was sitting in the waiting seat I can't forget how many cellphones was ringing.

I was in a kind of chok that I was the only decent person with only my papers on me :lol:

hi guys, how r u doing, i'm new to this but i've been following the thread for a while now, my name is john. i don't really know how to do this or add a timeline and all. but here is a brief description that way maybe i can help some of you who are in the same shoes as i am. my wife is the usc.

6/28/07 i765 mailed in(because i figured the rfe would cause delays)

8/21/07 interview letter dated 7/10/07(when i opened the letter i thought it would be receipt for i765)

not even a couple of minutes and i'm already asking q's :)

does anyone know if there is a way to find out if your name cleared FBI already? that way when approved at interview i get a stamp i551 i think.

We just used photocopies of our returns. The RFE was pretty vague. I don't have the document in front of me right now, but I remember it did say something about W-2's and/or 1099's, or that we filed for an extension.

Of course, I'm as sure as I could possibly be that we had already submitted everything we possibly could... But at least it seems fixed now.

Hubby's biometrics are done. :) Biometrics itself wasn't all that bad, just the area of the neighborhood was. We were in and out of there in about half an hour and the people were very kind to us. Now we're just waiting with fingers crossed for a transfer! :D
