AOS & EAD June 2007 Filers

OK, now I am really confused. B)

We received our NOA1 for AOS/EAD on June 4th. We have been patiently waiting for our letter scheduling our biometrics appointment. I was getting really worried that the letter was lost in the mail, because looking at everyone's timelines, it seems like the biometrics appointment comes anywhere from 2 weeks to 5 weeks after the NOA1 letter. In fact, I was so nervous, I scheduled an InfoPass appointment for next Friday, July 13th, to see if we had a biometrics appointment date (perhaps showing in the computer but just one that we never received the appointment letter).

Then I got a USCIS letter in the mail today. I thought, 'Great, we finally have our biometrics appointment letter." But, it turned out to be a letter scheduling our interview!

So, now we know our interview date is August 21st, but we still have not had our biometrics appointment yet!

I guess I will keep our InfoPass appointment for next week, just to ask if we need to go to biometrics before our interview.

Anyway, please update our timeline with our Interview Date: August 21st.

Wow. That is pretty weird! Interesting. I think you made the right decision to schedule that InfoPass; as we know that biometrics are needed as a prerequisite for the greencard. Good luck, and keep us updated.

Am happy for you. You're lucky! Go ahead with the Infopass. My guess is they might take your biometrics either on the day of the interview or they may send you a notice to appear before. Anyhow, you're almost there. Nice. Now, where's my IL? All the best to us.

Biometrics appointment notice came in the mail today.

the "notice date" is 7/3/2007, biometrics date is 7/28/2007

the appointment's set for a saturday afternoon.

I didn't know that government offices were open on weekends.

Update: NOA1 06.28.07, Biometrics: 08.02.07

We still can't check our status on the USCIS website, but I guess it is okay since we received the biometrics appointment notice in the mail yesterday so we know that they're working on our case.

regarding web status - we can just now add my hubby's aos, and our son's I-130 to our portfolio but we cannot add our son's AoS yet - so i think their data entry clerk is just slow as heck ;P

and incidentally all have been touched in the last 3 days so someone's doing something

Sorry to hear this, Annette, really.

This is precisely what I advocated to myself when doing my AOS and to others: despite using a lawyer, always double check what the lawyer does, understand the forms yourself and take a more hands-on approach. An error that comes to mind was the lawyer wrote my I-94 number wrong... a huge mistake in my opinion and such a stupid one at that. Just careless. Which appears to be what your lawyer is.

You should absolutely talk to your lawyer and it it were me, I'd be pretty pissed off. He made a very careless error that was so easily avoided.
