Hey everyone!

I received my RFE in the mail and I'm a bit confused, so I'm asking for your help!

My RFE mentions that in my Affidavit of support, my sponsor (which is my husband) has to submit his tax returns papers for the most recent year.

My husband worked the same job during the entirety of 2018 and is not self-employed, so I sent his 2018 (along with 2017, just to make sure) W-2 from said job.

Back when I filled for the affidavit of support for the K-1 Visa, I was able to provide summaries of W-2 without any issues, so I did the same because they accepted it without any problems in the past. Is that my mistake? Is sending the W-2 summary not enough? I don't really understand tax forms in the US and I'm always the one filing for everything, so I most likely messed up somewhere.

Unless there's something else I'm missing, I don't really know what to send them back except a complete version of the W-2?

Thanks in advance!

I received the same RFE, and it had quite a bit of requests. Such as attach all W-2's, 1099s, and then the actual 1040 filed, along with saying that i didn't meet the poverty guidelines. Then in another section it said even through my income was sufficient, that i didn't show proof of income like last 6 months of paystubs, which would conflict with the failure to meet the poverty guideline language . I think most of the language on the RFE is boiler template, even though it may not apply to you. I was well over the poverty guidelines so definitely not the problem. I know that i sent in my 2017 transcripts with the AOS filing, so I know they just really wanted the most current tax return.

I basically responded with the following, i know it was overkill but better not to have another RFE come back:

1 2018 W2

2 2018 Federal income tax return

3 2018 Income tax transcript (easily obtained from IRS website)

4 12 months of bank statements, brokerage accounts etc.

5 Last 6 months of paystubs

6 Letter from my employer

I think i just threw everything in there just to be safe :)

No problem, and thank you! I am nervous but I know we have nothing to hide. I've got all my paperwork together, I'll post the list here and maybe others can tell me if I'm missing anything 😂

Copy of the packet I submitted for AOS - all photocopies

Originals of every document I submitted for AOS

Interview notice

Photo album going back to the first time we met including trips we've taken, tickets to things we've been to and pics of us doing the things, wedding pics, thanksgiving, Christmas etc.

Notes and cards we have written to each other

A letter my mum wrote me after I called her to tell her I was going to do AOS and not return to the UK as planned

The documents I brought with me when I entered in April that demonstrated ties to UK (just in case they ask about intent, though I don't think they will, but I did enter on ESTA so I want to have them just in case they ask)

Wedding cards sent from family and friends

The lease with both our names

His life insurance showing me as a beneficiary

We couldn't get me added to his bank account because I don't have an SSN, but I do have a credit card on his credit account. Going to try to get something on paper that shows this.

Also need to have my medical, which will take care of I-693. Already had my titres and a tetanus shot, plus syphilis and gonnorhea testing. Will get an MMR at medical appointment since apparently I am not immune to mumps.

Am I missing anything?!

Didn't you turn in your medical at the port of entry?
