Hi All

Looking for thoughts

Have you used photos for documents (I mean,  take a picture with the phone, add it into a Word document and print the document) instead of a regular photocopy ?

The case is that my Birth Certificate doc is large and I can get a better/cleaner/fits all results by using a photo.

Would you think that could be any issue? ever heard of RFIE for this?

Thanks!

Fer

You would have better luck downloading a free scanner app from your app store. I use "Tiny Scanner" and it converts the file into pdf. This is what I used to scan in my tax transcripts and it worked well.

I would use the more legible one, provided that everything on the entire document is legible. As @celie&joseph stated, one of those scanner apps would be the way to go.

I might be late answering, but my birth certificate is in a legal size paper, normal for people in Mexico, but here it was difficult, any ways, I went to staples and had photocopies made, it was cheap and easy, and when I sent it to be translated I was charge for 2 pages obviously but I was happy I got that done :)  thats my experience

Hello guys,

i just wanted to update you guys if there are any of you who don’t get NOA1 letter because PO box isn’t working or post office makes mistakes or something.

So I applied for AOS with EAD and AP and I’ve got NOA! for AOS and EAD but not for AP.

I was waiting for the NOA1 letter for AP but got this email saying it was returned to USCIS because post office can’t deliver it to me.

According to instruction on email, I should file for the request another NOA1 letter.

I tried to file it on USCIS website but it says I need to wait for 30 days at least and then file it.

Meanwhile, I went to local office for fingerprint on July 3rd and was waiting for the time to file the NOA1 request.

When I checked mailbox today, I got a letter from USCIS which contains NOA1 letter for AP.

If you have any trouble like mine, you can wait for USCIS to resend them again :)

Thanks for your quick feedback.

Did not think on using an App to scan and produce a pdf. Will try that

Thanks!

My husband had his biometrics appointment today in Birmingham, Alabama. It was scheduled for today at noon, and since the support center is only a 15 minute drive we didn't bother trying to walk in early.

We got there at 11:20am, and we were done at 11:45am. There were only 2 people ahead of us. Quick and painless :)

Does anyone (or your partners) have experience bringing your dogs from warm weather to cold snowy weather? I'm from Australia and am somewhat considering getting my dogs over here to Illinois, but it gets COLD in winter. My dogs are healthy and are currently in the care of my family in Australia. Would that be selfish? Can dogs adapt? They're not long furred. I know nothing about this, if it'd be selfish (i.e. they couldn't adapt) I wouldn't do it.

Would the dogs be allowed inside during winter? If they are healthy and not too old, dogs tend to adapt pretty well to different climates (especially if they are a medium-large breed) unless they are just left outside. Some more sensitive breeds (greyhound) and small short-haired breeds (chihuahua) need a bit of extra help - whether that be having their own winter jumpers/sweaters, or a heated dog bed, etc.

Kind of an opposite situation, but a friend of mine moved from Michigan to Florida years ago, with 2 Huskies. She was worried about the major difference in climate and temperature but they've done great and enjoy splashing in a kiddie pool on hot days and they also have their own fan 😂

Edited to add: Doggies can get frostbite, so on very cold days (below freezing) you need to make sure they aren't overexposed to the cold, especially their noses, paws, and ears.

Thanks for your reply, my dogs are indoor dogs and medium sized aged 5 and 6 so that's great. They like to run around the yard and also need daily walks. Do you think they'd do ok with still going on walks in the winter if I get them some clothes and paw covers? Good idea with the heated bed and clothes.

Once the temperatures start getting below their usual comfort zone, I would go on shorter walks and see how they do. If they are used to being walked for 30 minutes (or running around in the yard for 30 minutes), go for 15 minutes instead. As long as they are doing well, you can gradually increase to their usual outside time. Also this is a helpful little guide regarding temperature: https://www.gopetplan.com/sites/default/files/inline-images/PETP_2245_HowColdIsTooCold_Infographic_0918.png

As a side note, my husband had to leave his 12 year old kitty Betty behind in Australia :( She's lived in the same house her entire life, so we felt it would be far too traumatic for her to be on a plane for 24+ hours only to end up in a strange new place with 2 other cats already ruling the roost. Betty is with his mom now and she regularly joins in on our video calls with her, haha 😄
