Got my biometric letter last Friday (was out of town for the holiday so only picked it up last night). Scheduled on the 16th in downtown NYC location on Varick st. thats actually the first day of my f-unemployment after my OPT expiration so I'm not gonna try to early walk-in, will just go when I'm told to and get it done.

Thank you btw for all who posted stories from their biometric appointments. Hope mine goes smoothly too :)

Hi everyone.. I have a few questions:

i just received yesterday my mailed NOA1 (8 days after text - 15 days after file has been received)

1- i noticed both forms (i131 and 1765) shows the fees as “0,00” is that correct? Because I file all forms together and it’s shows only the total amount usd1225 at the AOS file.

2- has anyone from GEORGIA, who applied for Driver license?

Thanks and congrats to everyone :)

hi,

we are from ga my wife was able to get her driver license, but it’s only good for 4 months. the lady from the dmv said once we get the work permit then she will have a regular license. also yes the fee is 00 when you file everything together.

hi everyone,

my wife just did her biometric this morning, so what’s next?

Hi everyone!

Sent our package on June 20th, USCIS received it on 22nd. No texts or emails since then, no NOA1 in mail. No money was cashed out either. Do not have informed delivery, because USPS doesn’t consider my address eligible :(

Is there anything I should be worried about? Is it time to call USCIS to find out what is going on?

Definitely no need to worry yet, up to a month is normal. Good luck!

I got my Biometrics letter today!

My appointment is July 15.. it's going to be in Denver.. I live an hour away.. I wonder if it would be worth a try to walk in... would hate to make the drive and get turned away!

Mine was also an hour away and I took a gamble. The lady originally told me they couldn't take me and I explained how I lived an hour away so they decided to let me have my appointment that day. It could be worth it but only if you're willing to drive 2 hours for potentially nothing. My husband and I treated it like a road trip, he had last Friday off of work 😂.

@KelsJosh like @Ethan & Shannon mentioned, no worries for the moment. My NOAs never arrived, I got my receipt #s by phone after 30 days, it happened that they were ready on day 21. I called recently to know where my hard copies of NOAs were and this woman told me that I got the receipt #s and that was enough. Today at my biometrics appointment they only asked for the NOTICE i797C (appointment for bio) which actullay arrived 1 week ago, so you are good, try to give them a call this week and see if receipt #s are ready.

Hi guys. An update for my previous message. This is a freaking disaster. Looks like USCIS lost my application and I have less than a month till my visa expires.

I just called the USCIS to find my case number. They said there is nothing in their database. They asked me for my A-number and some personal info to track down the case. They said it may take up to 30 days to do it and contact me via email but exactly in 30 days I’m out of status. So they said it’s up to me to wait or resubmit the application, but if I don’t do it I’m out of status and they don’t care about it.
They also said that probably my case was already transferred to the field office in Buffalo, but they’re not sure. They’re not sure about anything. They didn’t even know if the fee was cashed. It wasn’t which is a very bad sign. They also said that normally you have info from them within 10 days after submitting the case via lockbox.
I honestly don’t know what to do because there is no way I can track down my case either in their central office or in Buffalo, looks like there is chaos in their office. I guess I’ll have to resubmit ASAP.

I suggest everyone calling USCIS if you don’t hear from them after 10 days since your application was delivered to the lockbox, otherwise you’re risking of losing your status. DO NOT WAIT MORE than 10 days, or a month. Hope this experience helps everyone.

P. S.  It could also be a case that they sent an RFE or something(we haven’t received anything at all) , so there is a risk of double charging the fee. If anyone ever had such a problem I would love to hear for your insights.

Just because the misinformation line (USCIS tier 1 phone support) doesn't have any information doesn't actually mean they lost your case. Unfortunately, quite a lot of recent applicants have had to wait a while to get their case numbers (we got ours fairly quickly, but that seems to have been unusual for the last few months).

If you haven't heard from them within 30 days of submitting your package and there's been no action on your payment (assuming you used a method you could track -- a credit card, a personal check, or some kinds of money order), contact LockboxSupport@uscis.dhs.gov ; they're the only ones who might really know where your application is.

Thanks for you response. I have sent an email to the Lockbox support, let us see if they respond to that. If there is nothing within a week, then I think it would be safer to resubmit. It’s just the first time I have encountered something like this.

The reason why I am so nervous if because I don’t have much time till my k-1 visa expires and so I could be out of status.

Officially the email from the  lockbox suggests that 30 days is a normal time processing, contrary to what the USCIS operator told me over the phone. I’ll also try calling another operator later on, maybe he/she will be more helpful.

Thanks everyone for your support, this forum is indeed a great source of information :)

Hi,

We brought our marriage certificate, and all the noa1 letters. Yes, we paid $50, and yes if you have a foreign DL you have to get the permit first and then take the actual driving test.

I'm sorry you have to go through all that. I would call again. It sounds like the person you spoke to doesn't know very much. Granted, most of them don't but sometimes you get some really helpful ones who know the ins and outs.
