The biometrics letter normally just states it's for the work permit and not AP, it covers both of them. I'm glad it worked out.

I walked in for biometrics today at Waukegan. It's an hour from my house, but the closest application support center. They told me that they couldn't fit me in because they had less employees working due to the holidays. I explained that I really needed my biometrics taken today because I live so far away and don't have a car here yet. The lady looked at my address and realised I did live far, she was so helpful and let me get everything done today. I was in and out of the application support center within 15 minutes. Very happy with the service.

They took from me:

1. My passport

2. Marriage certificate

3. Biometrics appointment letter

They returned these items once my biometrics were complete.

Hi, when you guys received your biometrics letter? It was scheduled to yesterday already, or you guys just walk in?

And hey, that’s  such  good news, congratulations!

Thank you! I got my biometrics letter last week. My appointment is actually for the Monday coming but I walked in early and luckily they could fit me in.

Are you government employee?

i am not.

so i called again and they transferred me to a different department. Where they stated they understood the situation and told me to fill out and email a form and attach our marriage certificate. so i did...

the next day, they emailed me back and said they could not accept the scan of our marriage certificate because it does not state that the marriage was recorded with the State, only the county...B.S

there are 3 or 4 places on the certificate that says "the state of Idaho"

I emailed them back a copy that has the clerks stamp(basically notarizing the certificate. I guess I will hear back from them on monday. I also reiterated that it was the same copy i used for her ssn and a.o.s

In other news. we received our text messages stating our paperwork was received last week, and my check was cashed back on the 2nd.

I suppose we will receive the noa1 paperwork in the mail sometime soon. maybe even before she receives her social security card.

Just asking. I am a Federal Government employee. I got a little bit of a runaround. Bottom line. They couldn't withhold insurance coverage due to a lack of SSN. I am not sure about the private sector but I would think that all major insurance companies would have guidelines in place for this type of situation. Good luck...

Finally done...

I had similar experience with DMV.

In Arizona, I can get the temporary driver’s license from my Korean one without taking the test.

So I got the temporary one back in March and the staff told me I can extend the license after it expires in May.

In May, after it expires, I went to DMV to renew or extend and the same staff in March told me that I can’t get the temporary license renewed and I need NOA1 letter for AOS to get the regular license.

A week later  I filed the AOS, I visited DMV again with NOA1 letter and was told they can’t accept the NOA1 letter because it doesn’t guarantee anything. I need an actual green card or the letter saying my green card is approved. But this time, they told me I can apply for the travel driver’s license and handed me the list of documents to prepare.

Couple of days later, I gathered all the documents I need and came to DMV again and still couldn’t get the travel driver’s license.

Because my I-94 was also expired with my K1 visa. (Thought the expiration date is different from visa expiration date)

I was so desperate to get driver’s license cause I don’t wanna stay home all day and had to drive by myself for the fingerprint.

Right before I left there, asked them if I can use my international driver’s license and they said yes I can use that.

I should’ve done more research but this one DMV staff changes her words every time I went there.

Luckily, everything worked out in the end but I was so confused whole time 😕

Glad it worked out for you. Sadly NY does not accept Korean driver's license and I don;'t have international license either. I don't really have to drive though since I live in the city, but this whole process is frustrating nonetheless. I have an immigration attorney based in NY, and she basically just refuses to give me any advice on DMV related issues bc thats a whole different ball game than regular immigration law.
