I had my interview today in the Los Angeles field office and my experience was definitely not very good. The IO had a very thick accent that made it very difficult for my husband and I to understand his questions. We initially went in together and was sworn in, gave joint documents, did the yes/no questions from the i-485 form. Asked about birthdays and date of marriage. After this, he told us to wait outside and then asked us in separately.

At the end of it all, we received a ‘continue notice’ from the IO stating our case still needs to be reviewed. Not the experience we were hoping for.

I'm sorry you had this experience. Our IO had a thick accent too which was a surprise to me. Hard to understand st first.

I'm sure everything will be okay. I understand it can be stressful. Hopefully you can hear back about your case soon. Keep us updated. Fingers crossed!!!

My friend in Puerto Rico received the same letter and she got her green card 8 days later.

Thank you both for the encouragement. It really was discouraging for me and my husband, we were really excited to have this be over for awhile. Now another waiting game begins...

We received the same letter and were told to wait up to 60 days if I'm not wrong. However the status was updated next day, so I hope you will receive updates very soon!
I heard that it is a very common thing when filers are not approved on spot. Also heard that sometimes IO needs to confirm the decision with supervisor so it takes time :)

I hope that this is the case. I saw other couples getting the continuance notice too, but the IOs seemed nice and polite. We just had a bad experience with our IO, like he was trying to intimidate us. We're trying to keep our hopes us, but yesterday was a very disheartening day.

Please keep us posted with any updates. I wouldn’t worry that much since I’ve seen similar experiences throughout this forum, specially this year.

I truly believe it's just a tactic some IOs might use to read your reactions, or that they're having a bad day. Sorry that your interview wasn't easy! But you're going to be fine, I'll be looking out for your updates.

A week for the actual card or a week for the Notice?

A week for the actual card.My notice came    two days after the card . I don’t know about someone else but that’s my experience. The notice came through a normal mail but the card was a next day mail.

Well, I made a big mistake..... I misread the instructions and we did not think we needed to bring her minor daughter to the interview. The IO was very, very nice and apologized to us, but said we will need to be rescheduled and we will need to bring her daughter. Now, we are waiting for the new interview date 🤦‍♂️😩

Our interview was October 24, but as I mentioned before,  we are being rescheduled because I did not bring her daughter to the interview, in error. I believe the reschedule date has been set and I received an alert yesterday that a duplicate notice regarding our case has been mailed on 11/14. I believe it is for our rescheduled interview date.

We never received an RFE, but Today they both received a letter stating that we did not submit their I 693 Forms With the I485 application and we must provide this either at the interview or beforehand.

Isn’t this an error? Their original exams were done well within one year and this form was provided when my wife & her daughter received their K-1/K-2 visas to enter the United States.

Prepare yourselves. here comes an epic rant...

Getting so frustrated with these government agencies.

So a week and a half ago, my wife and i went to a credit union to open a joint checking account. joint accounts are a good idea for interviews. shows you are true.

we went to the credit union. supplied our required documents, electric or gas bill, cant remember which one with both our names on the account and so forth.

after about 25 minutes, they said we could not open the account jointly because her ss card(with her married name), does not match her passport.

my wife can't get a drivers license yet, so they suggested we get a state ID with her married name on it.

My wife goes to the dmv a week ago. brings all necessary papers and documents. dmv confirms that everything she brought is what was needed. take her picture, Then they state that they need to verify something with the ss office. they call ss and cant get the information, because ss can't look it up on their data base that day. my wife is instructed to check save.uscis.gov/casecheck over the next couple of days to see the status of this identification card case. the dmv worker said, "when the checkmark appears and tells you to come back, comeback, and we can get you your ID.

for those who do not know, it will have a icon of a clock while they are working on the case/case under review, and a checked box when it has been returned to the agency. in this case, the dmv.

Monday evening, we checked, and the site said, case returned to the agency. so, as the dmv worked said, this mean to come back to the dmv.

my wife dropped me off at work today(she drives using an international drivers license), and went to the dmv.

waited 2 1/2 hours today just to have them tell her, her case is not ready...

#######!

dmv says, yes, even though your case states that information has been sent back to us(the agency), they have not reviewed anything. and she should check the website for when it has been reviewed so she can come back(wait half the day again) and get her ID.

the site does not provide this information to my knowledge, only, "case under review,", and "case returned to agency.

So how the F are we supposed to check?

dmv then says, or wait for an email to say your case is ready...

Who's going to email us? the dmv? she didnt provide an email.

all this just to get a bank account to help with her eventual interview.

also, she had a difficult time getting her ss card too.

its just been a pain in the butt. why can't things just run smoothly. stupid bureaucratic garbage faces

GRRRRRR. I need a lullabye before i tear through my clothes and turn green

my good friend said once "there is an oversupply of idiots" ...we've been to the DMV at least 5 times... :D

I even had a trainee who wanted to send me away and I had to call the supervisor who eventually told her that she was wrong and I was right and to proceed...they did not want to accept the marriage license+cert as proof of name change.

I have a theory about why my approvals happened quickly but it's likely not the case. I phoned USCIS and asked them a bunch of questions about how long I'd be allowed out of the country once I have my AP and explained to them that my mum is ill. I didn't ask any questions about expediting the process because I'd already accepted the fact that an expedite wasn't going to happen. I wonder if this phone call pushed things along, I have my doubts but I still wonder. A month after this phone call I got my interview scheduled and then my combo card.

or maybe God did that because you both deserve it and He knew you need it immediately ❤️😊
