I don’t understand, if they already approved your expedite doesn’t the NVC transfers your case to the embassy so you can schedule your own interview? Our case was expedited and I scheduled my husband interview here at the consulate in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where we currently reside.

Sorry this happened to you, but the days of kidnapping for ransom are not as common as they used to be many years back. I am Colombian as well and haven’t heard such things happening in big cities. So I think you need to relax and continue living your life and not be inside your apartment. What happened to you can happen anywhere including in the USA.

Good luck to you!

Could you shed light on this ⬇️⬇️I'm a bit confused

You truly are from Colombia, victim blaming. Again, you didn't answer my question about if there is anything else I can do with the NVC

Yeah I was only born there and moved to the states when I was a baby and again my dad is american (blonde with blue eyes) the typical “gringo”. I am not a victim blamer but from experience been in the US Air Force and been deployed at foreign embassies it blows my mind how my fellow Americans don’t have common sense when they travel.

In regards of your question, did you asked to speak to a supervisor so he/she can escalate your request?

This is great! That means you can schedule your own interview as your case got expedited (our case says the same thing after we received the email from the consulate to schedule our interview, it will remain like that). Go to the following website to schedule it (find your embassy first):

I did speak to a supervisor, they stated they don't do expedites at the NVC stage. I have to wait until my 3 weeks is up, which is the 26th. Again, that isn't much time, but I have seen timelines go in excess of 4-5 weeks. As well as if they have an RFE, it could take another 3 weeks. If the Bogota embassy did DCF or approved the expedite to skip the NVC, I wouldn't have a problem. But based on all the timelines I have researched and information on the Embassy website, the NVC is a required step no matter the situation.

*If you have approved expedite, your case is ready for scheduling of Visa interview appointment.

*If your case is not expedite, it means it's ready @ USEM for you to show up for interview on the interview day.

In general, it means the USEM has received your case from NVC.

My case was expedited as well. It was received by NVC 5/28 and 6/24 we have an interview at embassy.

First, papers were moved to an embassy (day after case #) and we filled out DS-260, then we upload all required documents. After, I think, one day I called them and they said they don't see it in their system so I sent an email and called again so lady could open it during the phone call. Next day I called again (so basically I was bothering them - thing learned at NVC - call, call, call, etc.) and after that phone call we received an appointment letter (my wife did medical two days earlier). We still have to upload I-864 - it wasn't listed as required document and I couldn't even hit on the Affidavit of Support on CEAC because it wasn't opening so I thought they don't need it (since the form was submitted year ago - case moved from AOS to CP)

So this is the only thing left and I got time till Monday to upload it. It looks like they are flexible, everything relies on embassy and depends on your specific case.

However I have (probably the last) question to you guys. Can someone explain me how to fill out I-864 with 2018 tax extension?

I was planning to attach 2017, 2016 tax transcript and attach 2018 tax extension + W2 2018.

1. Question 23.a. It should be yes or no if I have an extension for 2018? (I would say No)

2. Question 24.a, b., c. what is the most recent year if I use tax extension for 2018? (I would say 2017, 2016 and 2015)

3. Question 20 what is my current annual household income 2017 or should I put income from W-2 2018? (I would use income from W2 for 2018)

Any help really appreciated.

Thanks,
